Fashion Trivia and a Pint

>> Did I ever tell you that I'm a bullish go-getter when it comes to quizzes, Monopoly and well, any game that doesn't require too many neurons, excepting the brain variety?  I'm also a frightening sore-loser too.  I'm a little scared to let this kind of ugly out into the loose and wild but but but…

How can I resist this?

A Fashionable Pub Quiz, a new pub quiz focusing on fashion, design and dress at The Marksman pub in East London every Monday from now on.  For those that don't know how a pub quiz goes… well, there are no hard and fast rules other than you gather up teams on a regular basis, meet in a pub, have a few pints and maybe some crisps if you need brain-fuel and answer trivia questions on a competitive level.  Apparently it covers everything from Vionnet to Beyonc√© so pop culturists and fashion geeks can collide.  Of course, where's the fashionable fun if this was just based on cold hard facts alone and so some subjective tasks have been incorporated into the pub quiz that include; make your own fashion icon from plasticine… guess who these are?

As well as making outfits for paper dolls, drawing fashion cartoon strips, limerick writing and the all-important picture round.

Here are some sample questions… with a slight leaning towards British fashion me thinks, but then again, it is a pub quiz afterall…

-Which clothing company has a name that when translated into English means ‘water guard’?

-In Gossip Girl, as well as the super-talented Little J, Blair Waldorf’s
mother is also a fashion designer. What is her christian name?

-Who did GQ deem to be the best and worst dressed men of 2009?

-Which fashion boss was publically assassinated in 1995?

-Name the year: McQueen’s Highland Rape collection, John Galliano is named Designer of the Year and eBay is founded?

-Which of these brands has Giles Deacon NOT collaborated with: Sky,
Smythson, Swarovski, Mulberry, Carphone Warehouse, Samsonite, Converse,
Isklar water, New Look, Linda Farrow or Cadbury’s.

Apparently the next quiz on the 25th is themed around couture so gather up a team and head down there if you think you're fash-headed enough… I'm not sure I am but I am definitely up for plasticine fun… oh and Isabelle OC seemed to have a laugh at the quiz too… might have to try and rope her onto my team.

P.S. As I ended up mentioning Isabelle OC, I might as well give much congrats to Style Salvage Steve and EJ, Imran of The Business of Fashion, Laetitia of Madmoiselle Robot, Isabelle OC, Michele of My Fashion Life for being featured in 'Britain's Best Fashion Bloggers' Telegraph article today though I feel there were a few strong omissions…

Fashionable Pub Quiz is awesome fun, but be warned there are only about 10 tables, 5 of which you can hear anything from… Get there early!
