>>I know I hate gross hybrid words that fashion loves to spawn but this one is a bit of a cutie. Selfridges is celebrating its 100 Year Birthday and quite honestly, the store in London is going to be jam packed with stuff curated around the Big Yellow Festival, going on (for some reason, there's no Big Yellow love in Manchester or Birmingham). Fashion shows from Giles Deacon, Henry Holland, PPQ and Nova Dando. Music performances from Patrick Wolf and Ebony Bones with a spot of Gay Bingo and cabaret that all adds to the garish tone of the Pantone 09 shade this celebration is about. Marc Jacobs, Giuseppe Zanotti, Louboutin, Paul Smith and others have gifted Selfridges a special product made in that exact Pantone 09 shade of yellow.
So onto the hybrid word….throughout May on Fridays and Saturdays, girls donning this especially-for-Selfridges Giles Deacon yellow PVC dress will be stalking the streets in and around Selfridges – an army of Selfridgettes! Cuteness, no?
I'm going to be on a Selfridgette spotting alert on the Saturdays in May… will snap and post of course…
Oh no, Brum and Manchester stores not good enough? These dresses are ace though, loving the lego references too!
My first attempt at a photoshoot it would be lovely if you could Swing by!
You inspire me really do. I dont have the skills or the camera to take a good picture like you do but i aspire to do my best:)
If you could pull that dress off I’ll instantly love you..
The dress definitely has a Lego/Duplo vibe to it, it’s lot’s of fun & the yellow is alarmingly striking, I like it.
THANKK YOU for your comment!

I’m off to bed now

I love that it is pvc AND tulle. Very cute!
There’s nothing in Manchester or Birmingham because nothing exists outside of London, remember? Sigh.
that’s probably repeating but mixing pvc in tulle its just big next thing!

I am always in awe with each of your posts… how do you find such interesting things? on designers and such?
This looks like a lot of fun, can’t wait to see pics of the Selfridgettes in action!
I admittedly love the Selfridgette outfits, but is anyone else bored of Giles Deacon endless collaborations? Surely we have more british designing talent than him..he’s going down the Julian MacDonald overexposure route.

I generally don’t like yellow but I WANT that dress – sans bag, I like to be able to see where I’m going!

Inspired by London’s Actionettes, perhaps? An all-girl 60s dance troupe who wear matching outfits…
