Milesald "If the world were pretty enough, I'd shoot on location all the time.  But the world is just not being designed with aesthetics as a priority.  So I prefer to rebuild it instead of photographing the real one.  What I'm tring to do is take something from real life and reconstruct it in a cinematic way."
Miles Aldridge

The Hamiltons Gallery with a skylight on a sun drenched day like today made Miles Aldridge's photographs on exhibit (coinciding with his book…) look even more vivid.  His plays on the kitsch, iconic and normality all pushed through an acid-toned vortex and coming out an alternative colour-saturated universe have been lodged in my head more than I thought as each image jogged some editorial or another…

N.B. Upon browsing his website I found a rather succinct and cute bio which I'd love to see a few people replicate…

**EDIT** Filep Motwary did a very comprehensive interview with Mr Aldridge himself….

  1. Very high fashion, the images are beautiful I am off to browse his website now!
I absolutely love fashion shots with a hint of nudity in them, the flash of a nipple!. For some reason the images evade smut and are classically beautiful oozing prettiness, showing the female body how it should be displayed.
I haven’t seen any blogs with this, I think being brave is key!

  2. i love his photos, ever since i saw an editorial by him on vogue italia – the one in your last two photos!

  3. Oh! I’m loving the saturated tones in his pictures. I disagree with him though–I think the world is beautiful, we just don’t look at it with appreciative eyes all the time. 🙂

  4. i LOVE his work…and the bio available on his site is so original,a smile was drawn on my face when i read it, though you have to be quite focus because the flashing is distracting at some point hehe. i wish i could’ve seen his exhibition 🙁
