IMG_3696 There must be some affinity between the colour peach, Angie Montreal of I Heart Norwegian Wood and myself.  It's a sweet sweet colour triangle I tells ya because Angie was lovely enough to source some beautiful peach chiffon to make our first modern dressmaking relationship happen with the caged dress.  Then she emails me to tell me of a perfect peach find she bought in a vintage-by-the-pound place (we need more of those around here…).  Effectively bought for $1, she winged these peach linen and lace panel trousers to me together with an issue of Worn that I wrote about a few days ago, which arrived in a tissue paper and ribbon-clad package.

Firstly, Angie got it spot on in thinking I'd be in love with them because the first dumb thing I squealed was "Looooove!" when I saw them.  Secondly, the initial pyjama trew quality of them is probably the thing that I love the most and yes, whilst I can slouch around in them doing manky things like getting rid of burnt crumbs stuck in the oven or mildew on the windows, I can also easily gussy them up and take them out (which I did today…) in all its peach glory…

I'm liking this vintage sixth sense malarky… more of that please if you don't mind, Angie!

  1. mmmmm lace panels + peach chiffon = love
angie are you gonna start selling these on ye olde etsy shoppe?

  2. Ha ha, so glad you like them! They are probably the most unique/strange pants I have ever, ever found while thrifting, yet at the same time they are “you” to a T
    -peachy blush pink: check
    -lace: check
    -panelling: check
    -slouchy comfy/chic fit: check
And they fit you wonderfully as well, so happy they’ve found the perfect home! Some people may think it’s crazy to buy random stuff for friends but if I see something that perfectly suits the person I always buy it for them, and you know what, I think it comes back in vintage karma because I’ve been gifted some wonderful things from friends as well!
Tanya: no plans yet, just a bit of vintage goodness here, but I do have plans to add much more clothing to my Etsy shop, I’m getting an intern for the summer (yay!) so hopefully I’ll have more time for designing new things and not be so chained to the sewing machine.

  3. So lovely! Please say you couldn’t possibly clean the oven wearing those???

  4. Absolutely gorgeous, and you wear them so well! What popped into my head when I saw those was “perfect peach trousers for eating peach ice cream . . . ”

  5. These would be great as a cover up when beach weather comes.
Black swimsuit and belt, plus strange pajama trousers and some headwear.
    love.

  6. Wow!! I was with Angie when she bought those pants… I remember she picked them up and said, “These are so Susie Bubble!” . Haha, they totally are….looking good!

  7. Gahhh! I love them too! Awesome find, Angie. I had no clue pants like this even existed. And Susie, they suit you so well.

  8. i love these! i always like it when loose trousers are skinny at the ankle and just rest on top of shoes, hard to explain!

  9. Wow. I can’t believe that these were a thrifted find, I thought that they were MADE for you in mind. So lovely of her to send you these. They’re perfect on you!

  10. We could deffo need some vintage-by-the-pound shops here in Southampton.
Those pants are amazing, what I love the most is that the upper part is made of lace.

  11. omgosh! i thought these were made by angie too. well, they make me very happy. they make me think of poiret. i’m on a carnation pink kick myself with powdery blues too. which leads me to those blue shoes of yours! wow.
and nice to see that canadian magazine, i hadn’t seen it. i like our funny little but huge country.

  12. wow… Angie, where is this vintage by the pound place? Because I definitely need to check it out… It’s in Montreal isn’t it?

  13. Anna – It’s actually in St. Hubert, it’s called Certex I believe, it’s a massive factory type place, they sort giant bins of clothing there, which is then sold to thrift stores and third world countries (a huge portion of used north american clothing is actually resold outside of NA)
It’s not that great of a place for amazing vintage finds, mostly just clothing that is good for reworking into other things or used for fabric. This was a strange and lucky find!

  14. Angie – don’t forget to mention you also found your wedding dress there!
Love the pants. They are so totally Poiret.

  15. Thanks Angie! That’s actually really close to where I live, and I never knew about it!
