Lacey Legs

Lace leggings and tights are all over the shops (I’m referring to physical stores and also the expression ‘all over the shop’…) Easy enough to dabble in for most people but given my mild fascination with sheer trews since scoring those Raf Simons trousers, I’ve had a hankering for trews in lace or sheer chiffon/organza of the looser variety.  Jaiden rVa James (who also happens to blog…) seem to have beaten the gals to the punch with these tailored lace trews that aren’t Prada-proportioned tight and are exactly the sort of thing that brings a new spin on lace that doesn’t end with "lace-panelled dress" (so SO many on the high street…).  With a growing legion of menswear designers veering into this aesthetic of "off-kilter elegance" that would seem attractive to both men and women, I can’t help but look to what the other side are offering and wanting to wear a lot of it… human greed = indulging on tailored lace trews…and possibly the black sheer shirt if I sort out the nude vest situation…

  1. Oh I know, lace is everywhere!! I haven’t given into the lace leggings/tights trend yet though. Lace trews are definitely more interesting and less likely to be imitated by the high street and I can see how they can be much more appealing…

  2. A guy in lace pants!
These look great, although I’m not sure if I can pull them off, I do love seeing lace tights on others…I remember them being really ‘in’ in the 90’s, may have had a pair then…

  3. hello Susie– I need your advice, or anyone else who knows.
The Emma Cook Fluffy Cardigan: I LOVE IT. I WANT IT. However, it costs 190$ here in the United Snakes, plus exorbitant shipping and handling fees ($15 is unusually pricey). I have not yet pulled the trigger though… has anyone out there seen this cardigan in person? What is it like? Do you think such a mass produced garment is worth that kind of money? How about that 20% angora– will it shed? Here’s a pic:

Thanks in advance. Really do appreciate any info. Cheers!

  4. Hm – I like the concept but I don’t think I’d wear it or find it very appealing on a man or woman. Sheerness too close to the crotch region makes me uncomfortable.
I admit I like lace leggings though, provided a mini dress or something covers said region of discomfort.

  5. Lace was definitely on my list of trends that should never come back. It looks so 80’s cheap no matter what you do!

  6. I love lace but with all the reproduction find it hard to find something original. I doubt I’ll be asking my boyfriend to put these on, but they’re still amazing. xx

  7. A guy in lace pants is a huuuge turn off. I think you could wear this though.

  8. Lace trousers for men? One step too far, in my eyes. I would wear a lot of things, but you would definately NEVER catch me in a pair of lace trousers. Too close to the cross-dressing line for me (and most I suspect)!

  9. i had the exact same thought when i saw these on dazeddigital!
    alice.

  10. 0_0 Goth is back again, I see.

I…think I need to sew my boyfriend a pair of those. And another dear friend, for that matter.

  11. When I was about 9? or so, I had a pair of black crochet lacey trousers that looked fairly similar to those…they had built in black satin hot pants at the top so there was no chance flashing of anything…I wish I still had them!

  12. Those trews give me that funny feeling in my tummy that only comes along with a carolyn massey for topman cape and its ilk. A sweaty mixture of overwhelming need and fear.

  13. I have that shirt he’s wearing and i soon will have similar pants… as long as I find the perfect fabric!

  14. ahem. I’m liberal with men wearing whatever but that I’m NOT quite ready for. You would look great in those tho.

  15. Well having looked closely it appears to be lace over nude coloured trousers of some sort. I’m kind of on the fence over these, I’d like to get them just to experiment around with them but i dont know if i would like them. still it would be cool to try them on. Any NY stockists?

  16. I bought a pair of lace leggings recently, but I’m struggling to style them because they’re quite firm and don’t lend themselves to being layered on top of other leggings easily.
