I’m sorry if the Aussie thing is a little deja-vu-esque after yesterday’s post but hey, how can I not bang on about it when I have The Joys Stores in Queensland to thank for getting me out of my mini-shopping drought. Now I hate to sound like some sort of ‘ditz with a credit card’ to quote Clueless, but I’m used to doing regularly surrounded by shops. It could be a mini-lunchtime peek on the shops on Lamb’s Conduit Street, could be a quick dash to Topshop, it could be a mini perusal after work, then at the weekend, I’ll do my usual long-ass shopping routes. This might not even involve buying anything but at least it’s physical contact with the stuff that I’m supposedly harping on about it here on this very blog. Of late though, quite literally I’ve run out of time. By the time I’ve finished work, everything is shut save for Topshop and it’s just depressing when you are dawdling around Oxford Street at around 8-ish. I’m then too tired at weekends to venture out to the shops, saving my energy for evening excursions so if you asked me what was the last thing I bought, I can’t remember. I do realise in physical time, that it was only three weeks ago that I made a purchase but for me that is an absolute age…and yes I did just sound like an annoying shopping brat there.
Still, enough of the grievances. The Joy Stores, which comprises of two stores; Joy Electric and Joy Hysteric, with the Hysteric portion being an online boutique has broken the drought and more specifically, it is Tristan Blair’s chick wedges which have done it. With a stonkingly good sale price, an fairly good AUD-GBP exchange and a pair of size 38’s languishing, I had to say yes. These will be my useful long-stomping shoes during the fashion weeks in September.
I’m not going to act like a know-it-all about this Aussie shoe designer because how could I compete with Imelda’s documentations of Tristan’s footwear antics. I’m not even going to try. Even my images can’t trump Imelda’s because of a very blurry PDF format of his SS08-9 collection that equates to poor image turnout. I’m thinking it’s a good thing though that the images are overexposed to light because I can already make out about five pairs of shoes that I’d plunk the cash down for. If I got any images of the high-res sort, I might be ringing up Tristan from my nearly-barred mobile (a bill of ¬£350 this month…I think that’s a personal best..) and demanding why he isn’t stocked in the UK.

Some of these really appeal to me.
Those Chick wedges are amazing! I really look forward to seeing you incorporate them into your outfits.
These shoes are divine! I love your blog!
I like the shoes on the first pic very much! Cute details.
wow, wedges will come in handy! they always seem to need less visits to the shoe man.
🙂
viva la wedge!
Lovely, lovely shoes. Wedges are so good to wear.
I’m drooling over those buckled and patent heels in the last few pics!
I do love TB, designer wise I think he could have extended himself this season (SS08) but then you know that because you read my review of the range.xxx
Last I heard, his range had been picked in Japan and I think he was making inroads into the UK.
That first pair of wedges are the most sublime things I have ever seen.
OOOH! I recently “discovered” Tristan Blair too! I saw the buckle high heels in Elle U.S. (I think) and again in Teen Vogue and so I did a little google search. I love all of his work. Is it a he? I’m not too sure. =/
ahh i love tristian blair but i can never find more than two styles of shoes anywhere and never in my size .. and i live in Queensland!!
Stop feeding my buckle fetish! I’m broke!
mmm… there a quite few that i can imagine would look good on me.
buckles are always interesting.
Well, it’s because they have this fetishistic edge which I am very fond of. haha
I own a couple of TB pairs and I must say these are bliss : comfortable, and unique designs!
Lovely choice and again understanding the tiem constraints – nightmare!

Wow, they’re beautiful. I see they’ve got a size 40 left – I’m so tempted!
nice shoes…I personally like it…but it looks like the shoe collection of Fergie?
I’ve been wanting those shoes for ages, but this is the first time I’ve seen them on sale. And what do you know? My size is the only size left available – ergo, I am now $295 poorer. But very, very happy.
Here’s a little piece I wrote on the man a few months back:
