Off to see the sea…

offsea.jpg

I confess, there were one or two times this week when I nearly pressed the ‘Delete Weblog’ button and each time I knew I would howl with wretched anger if I had done that but I guess that’s the way my mind has been operating with lately – sheer madness. I hate blubbing away here but I do feel like i have to apologise for blogging less and less and not giving my 100% in things. I have about 10 Susie Styles-type posts lined up but with no time to actually execute them. It’s not a case of not being bothered but literally having no time. I knew that would be the way what with having two babies and all

Less about the blubbing but more concrete information. I’m off to Maaaargate for a day or so this weekend for some much-needed sea air and head clearance time. My wardrobe will be consisting of things that will match Morelli’s in Broadstairs lush lush ice creams and things that are muss/fuss-free to aid the head clearing…

Offsea

Then there will be house-moving madness next weekend as I move onto my next hovel. It’s all change-a-go-go and I can’t promise anything except that the desire to blog is there but the time is sorely lacking… where is that 48 hour day I asked for?

  1. Have a great vacation, sounds like you definitely deserve it!
I think that your busy-ness is only to be expected with all the exciting changes going on in your life, I think if any of your readers resent you having less time to blog that would be very selfish.
And even still, you still post with impressive frequency and the quality is always very high.
Hope you get some rest this weekend! 🙂

  2. hey Susie!
Dree from theURBANcollection! You know, I have the same feeling sometimes when it comes to production and caring for the baby (website)..it’s a constant race and often times, a bit of guilt that I carry due to my need for perfection and wanting to give, give, give! But I just wanted you to know that you go ABOVE AND BEYOND as a blogger and offer so much info and eye-candy for your readers that 1)you’ve set yourself up for readers to WAIT for you because you’re that intriguing and adorable and 2)people will give you the grace and mercy to take time for yourself… it’s just so necessary! I actually find it hard to believe that you blog on the weekends, honestly but that is the “above and beyond” thing I am talking about so, (as I preach to myself here as well), HAVE fun this weekend, take those breaks you need and know that you are loved and appreciated. So much so that as a reader, I connect in a way with you that when I know you are happy and taking a break and enjoying life outside of business, I AM HAPPY! ‘Tis a sisterly thing, I think. Love you cutie…
    Dree

  3. Hey Susie,
Enjoy the vacation! Sea air does wonders. it does get hard sometimes, to balance a real life and work with maintaining something you love so much.
I am sure you know that your audience adores your work and will enjoy it whenever it comes.
You’ll have time to come for NYC Fashion Week right?
    Thanks,
    Danny

  4. Don’t worry!!!!!
You post more than enough and we know that the only reason for you to be posting less would be lack of time.
Thanx for even finding time to post at all and have fun on your lil vacation!
    Nadine
P.s.: I LOVE the ice cream colors of your clothes^^

  5. love love love the ice cream colours of your holiday wardrobe, and don’t worry about having to blog all the time 🙂 you deserves a break!

  6. Lovely colours, they remind me more of the colours of love-heart sweets rather than icecream though! Nevermind a 48 hour day, I think I need at least 72 hours!

  7. the colors of your weekend wardrobe are delicious. never thought about packing thematically, but it seems like a great approach.
and don’t worry about blogging less. i think your fans will understand that you have a busy and exciting life! that’s part of the vicarious pleasure of this blog.
rather than delete it, i would much prefer that you blog in whatever way that gratifies you. it is YOUR blog after all.

  8. You seem like a pretty successful gal, with the blog (and another baby) and a real life job. Have you considered hiring an assistant, even if it is just part time? From what it appears to me, you are doing probably 1.75 people’s work, and that is killing you.
Part of the charm of your blog is your open pleasure in fashion and clothes, when it makes you unhappy to post because you are overworked it is developed in the tone of your (writing) voice that shares your unhappiness with your readers. And I must say how much more I enjoy your photos of yourself when you smile over your somber-model pose (as I posted a while back, perhaps under a similar name); the same applies for your writing.
One girl to another, don’t get caught (especially so soon) in the trap that many women get caught in, expecting to be over-performers all the time, they burn out and no longer take pleasure in what they truly love. I love your writing style and like waking up on the other side of the pond to your silly, smart and clever postings.
    J.R.
P.S. I get such a kick out of your comment a la ‘Persuasion’: “Going to Bath/Lyme to get some air.” Perhaps you should bring it along to read, if you haven’t read it before. It just tickles me that in England the ocean still holds the same value as a restorative two centuries later.

  9. Susie,
Your blog is literally THE ONLY blog I read on a regular basis – I just adore it so much. We, your adoring audience awake patiently. No hurry at all. We will still be here when time has found you once again.
Be brilliant! Feel shiny & new.
    Cheers.
    Erica

  10. oh please please don’t delete the bubble.. so many people will be disappointed, i, myself, included. hope your head gets cleared up and that you are able to truly RELAX this weekend.
    best wishes
    xx

  11. I don’t like to repeat other people’s comments, but this post persuaded me to stop lurking and say: please don’t delete the blog! I LOVE it, as so many others do and we’re happy that you post at all…so recuperate in your own time.
Have a lovely time in Margate, it’s a beautiful and highly underrated place.

  12. I’ve always wanted to go to Morelli’s! Anyway hang in there Susie, it’s one of those days, or weeks, or months, but it will subside, otherwise you’ll get used to it…somehow…
Look forward to your return with tales of the trip (and style discoveries).

  13. I love my daily dose of bubble as much as the next girl but slow down! It wouldn’t hurt to take just a couple of days off or even update the blog maybe just a couple of times a week for a while. Just don’t burn yourself out and please don’t delete what has become a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration!

  14. Susie, do not fret…we understand and will stick by you. I’m also house hunting, job hunting and working full time – all of which is eating up my precious research/blogging time so i feel your frustration. Do what you need to do and I’m certain your band of loyal bloggites will be here when you need them. Cx

  15. I guess… keep calm and keep going? I hope things go well for you, and don’t be stressed to keep up with blogging!

  16. I think it’s probably safe to say that if you DID delete your blog, 30 seconds would pass, during which time you would be staring at your screen in shock, then you would probably start running around your apartment in a panic, and then you would start to hear a general ruckus throughout the city. That would be the sound of a million girls and boys crying over their lost fave blog.
In all seriousness though, new job, new apt. = lots to think about = very overwhelming. We don’t want the blog to become a chore for you, we really all want it to continue being a fun thing for you, so give yourself some breathing room, and let it be fun again. Even if it means taking a MONTH long vacation from the blog, we’ll be here waiting for you 😉
Have fun on your mini vacation!
    xo
    Angie

  17. enjoy your little break! but don’t forget to come back and continue blogging! we’ll miss you (temporarily) here (:

  18. This is what you call infrequent? You’re positively prolific! Go have fun and look fab at the beach!

  19. Susie, I’ve been blogging for 3 and a half years now. (Not Fashion Me Fabulous the entire time, obviously.) There was a time when I blogged everyday about deeply personal things. Then there was a time when I just didn’t say anything. I barely contacted my friends either. I just needed a break. This isn’t your job, it’s a hobby. Do it while you love it. Take breaks when you need to. We’ll be here when your fingers are itching to type again.

  20. ah! just saw Daphne Guinness name dropping you in the weekend FT! that’s got to make it worthwhile! (sorry for the excessive use of exclammation marks, got a bit over excited…). enjoy the ice cream & hope the weather stays nice for you. c

  21. I hope you have a fabulous time! And please, please don’t delete the blog! I’m sorry if asking questions right now is just adding to the stress, but has Agathe started blogging again? Because I clicked on the Style Bytes link and it appeared as though she was blogging again! But maybe it’s a different person? I don’t know.

  22. hope you have a lovely holiday and come back feeling a little more refreshed. although don’t worry about not being able to post as regularly as before. it might depress you that you can’t give as much attention at the moment, but hopefully things will improve time-wise and you’ll be back on soon. just don’t beat yourself up on it! 🙂

  23. two words about not blogging: never apologize.
    (i wanted to write “never.apologize.”
to make it a stronger statement but
that would’ve changed the meaning 180°. hrm.)

  24. Aww, you deserve a break. Seriously! You ought to take a nice, long break from blogging–we’d much rather you do that than get so bogged down by it all that you felt tempted to delete!
Oh, and I agree with the rest. You shouldn’t be sorry for not blogging much. You still update more than most fashion bloggers!

  25. Just joining the chorus to say please don’t delete the blog. It was the first blog that I ever read and its still my favourite. It doesn’t matter how little you write or how infrequently…we’ll wait. And btw you’ve only slowed down to the blogging pace of a normal person anyway. I have no idea how you ever managed to post as frequently as you used to! I can only manage once or twice a week! Enjoy your holiday – don’t feel guilty – and PLEASE don’t press delete!

  26. Hey Susie, I went through a phase last year when I was stressed from moving house, not being able to work (due to being homeless) and not being able to blog. It was horrible! It went on for weeks and I thought all my readers would have deserted me. But they didn’t and now I’m much more chilled out. You ‘not blogging’ still adds up to several posts a week which is more than most of us. It’s very sweet that you can be so honest with your readers but we know you’ve got loads going on so don’t feel like you’re letting us down. You don’t owe us anything. Have a happy weekend 🙂

  27. wow you sound so stressed!!! make sure you enjoy your much deserved weekend trip! breathe in and out 😉 moving is the pitts.. there is nothing worse and i know what i am talking about, having moved about 12 times in just 4 years!!! but think on the bright side, things will be over soon and you will be living with the bf (which will take some adjusting) and everything will be new and exciting. xo

  33. The fresh sorbet colour of outfits look perfect for eating ice cream in. Know what you mean about slacking on commitment to blog post – heck I even feel guilty for not reading everyones as much as usual due to juggling everything. It ain’t going to happen – 24 hours is our fixed quota – nuff said!

  38. Hope you had a fab weekend in Maaargate! sometimes just getting away for a weekend and chilling out is what you need and the sea air does work wonders 🙂 Good luck with the move also.x

  39. Hi Susie,
I agree wholeheartedly with everyone else’s comments! You blog with such amazing regularity and offer so much to your readers. And the best thing about your blog is you seem to love it so much. You should never feel this is something you have to d0 – we will be here if you blog once a week or once and hour so don’t worry!

  40. Hey….thanks for being so kind about me getting stressed. I don’t want to turn the blog into a ‘Woe is me for being ill/stressed’ because it’s not a ‘Dear Diary’ kind of blog. I love how the words are coming from the ppl I feel I sort of KNOW in a way…Dree, Make Do & Mend, Natty, Angie, Carl, Stephie….and I know there are many more… I’m chuffed that you even care!
It’s been difficult because it’s never been a case of not wanting to blog but not having the time…. as much as I love my job, Style Bubble is my first baby afterall…. something about the firstborn that just tugs doesn’t it?
Anyway, much ice cream was had and I’m not feeling like such a wuss anymore (honestly…why am I complaining when there’s far more dreadful things going on….).
To answer a hilarious question by JR Lovelie though…. me?? An assistant?! I’d feel silly just even asking for one… that said, I have had offers from ppl which never fails to make me laugh…yup, please come over to my grotty flat and help me um…make tea and look at press releases…
Just an odd notion that I can’t even possibly consider but thanks for the suggestion and I know what you mean about burning out….the thing is I don’t want to be one of those power-tripping career woman who is constantly on the Blackberry…. I feel odder and odder now that I’m becoming that way…. we shall see what ensues though….

  41. ms. bubble,
where is the pink skirt/dress(maybe) with the triangles from. i love it!

  42. Look, can’t we just agree that now that lc has left no one else can just stop blogging, deleting their blog and whatnot?
    Thank you.
