Oh to be a teen again…

…do you remember, back in the days of ye olde Style Bubble years in 2006, all of two years ago when Teen Vogue featured the blog and I was eeeeeking and throwing expletives all over the places…oh those were the good old days… apparently Teen Vogue are under the illusion that an ancient 24 yr old is still somewhat relevant to their readers as they have featured me as the Blogger of the Month… I read this feature sometimes by accident when other featured bloggers mention this blog and I sigh and say ‘You young pretty things with your teensy lithe bods and Alexa Chung-esque air… you go and run around in skyhigh platforms and flared denim minis whilst I recline on a porch with some iced lemon tea.’  So it sort of feels a little odd that I’m there now despite me clearly not being a teen anymore.  Still buy the mag tho… can’t beat the compact size for non disruptive tube reading that doesn’t knock into ppl by accident, and yes I am aware the suited and booted on the tube smirk a little…

  1. Congratulations x2! You really deserved to be featured over and over again. You’ve inspired so many girls to either start their own blog, increase the quality of their already created blog, and/or just take a few risks with what they wear.
    On the Teen Vogue front, I have no idea why I still buy the magazine. The layout always gives me a headache— its all over the place! I also don’t really fit with their targeted reader, but I still oddly buy and read the magazine. Foiled by Wintour and her minions again!

It was the Teen Vogue fall fashion issue about two years ago that first led me to the bubble! ^ _ ^ since then I’ve absorbed your fashion insights and thoughts like a sponge and probably would not have fallen so in love with the world of fashion had it not been for your blog. I couldn’t help having a little blush at the mention of the blue floppy hat :), but what Chelsea says is absolutely true- Teen Vogue might bug me to death a lot of the time, but they have their blogger list absolutely spot-on, and no one claiming to be aware of fashion blogs would be worth their salt if they didn’t know about you. You’ve inspired so many girls (self included) to think a little more about what we wear and how we wear it, and to think about fashion and take our own little risks (or what count as risks where we are) – and it’s all the more amazing that you manage to do it with a full-time job and an actual life- hats off to you, Susie!

The greatest thing that came from my being featured was a witty reply to friends and family who continually told me I was too old to buy Teen Vogue! The name is so curtailed…they should change it to….”slightly younger and much more brightly colored” Vogue.

  34. Well.. Now you made me feel old! I used to be a mini fashion Icon in my high-school- no bigy, nothing like you but I had so much fun trying out and daring, and soon I am going to be 25 LOL.
