Born Again

For somebody who supposedly should be savvy about the web being a blogger et all, I’m surprisingly archaic and clueless when it comes to doing organised browsing or elese I’m just slow.  Hell, I only just discovered Bloglines a few months ago when other people probably have been getting RSS feeds on their Blackberries for yonks.  Even something as simple as a ‘Favourites list’, a feature that babies can use, has somehow eluded me as it never strikes me to mark something as a Fave.  Instead I juggle URLS in my head and sit there scratching my head with a pencil, the way I used to struggle with chemical equations.  Hence why my online shopping routine is never formulated and quite often I have to use my blog as a reference to what the site I wrote about.

Reborn is a Montreal-based online website that I read about (somewhere…who knows?) and had visited in the past musing that I liked the shop, and recently a reader kindly sent me their sale notice which made me bolt upright into a ‘Holy shit… I remember that URL!’ moment.  I like this system of haphazard email reminders and accidental reminders… just because I like to make things difficult for myself…

Anyhow Reborn’s SS08 sale will appeal to most… what’s not to like even if you aren’t the typical type who likes to drape oneself in ‘nouveau avant gardian’ labels (yes, that is a ridiculous phrase…) and wears black patent Raf Simons trainers (the mind does wonder why luxury menswear trainers are making womens ones look a little pathetic…), if such a typical type so exists.  The point is there’s a Reborn piece for everyone given the number of labels, with garment level ranging from basic to challenge.  Just bagged the Peter Pilotto mechanical print dress…

  1. I od the same thing too! I always forget to save things to favorites, and hten right when I need a website. Bam, I forgot the url.
anyway, great website. I really like the Lillies jacket.

  2. I live in Montreal and for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been planning to go this store literally every single night. I live a couple blocks from it but I never manage to make it before closing. I want to check out the Complex Geometries but I really love a lot of what they carry. Now you’ve made me want to go ever more. 😉

  3. how i covet the things in that store!! living in vicinity to the shop makes it that much more difficult to come to terms with how much money i don’t have to spend there…though it is so great to be able to touch the clothes and feel everything first hand.

  4. Oooh, can’t wait to see that dress in an outfit! Reborn is a gorgeous store, a real gem in the often touristy “Old Montreal”.
Cait: We carry Complex Geometries at my store as well (Headquarters Galerie & Boutique) and Clayton (the designer) even drops off some one-off pieces once in awhile since our shop focuses on more one-of-a-kind items and SUPER small time designers. I’m working there all week since the BF is out of town, pop in and say hi!

  5. I totally know how you feel, when it comes to making a note I am still a faithful pen and paper gal, and I’m always being told I should use the calender on my mobile – I have a calender on my mobile?!?!!
Loooove the black top with the holes in the back

  6. I love Reborn!
Despite the fact that I’ve only ever bought one item there-it’s too pricey for my meager budget at the moment ;-( I love to occasionally delve into their world of uber chic. Also own a Complex geometrics dress and, let me tell ya, it never disappoints!
As a Montreal resident, I can certainly vouch for the indie designers here who truly breathe new life into the very saturated mass market of sameness !

  7. wow 😀 i’ve just had a look at the site and its brillient!it even sells swedish label Velour, yay!
how much did you pay for the postage to the UK?is it very expensive?

  8. OMG, they have RAD HOURANI!
I’ve been looking for RAD pieces for a long time and now i found some, Thanks for posting!

  9. The first thing to catch my eye is the Peter Pilotto dress! Love it! Ditto the Petar Petrov dress; the contrast in fabric is interesting.

  10. Clayton Evans (ComplexGeometries) is also a fave designer at our shop…and we just learned this week-end that Clayton used to head the “aerobics demonstration” team in his hometown – so many talents, a true renaissance man!

  11. Rad Hourani is actually FROM Montreal, never mind having an apartment here…

  12. i get the best things at reborn (i just got the henrik vibskov big tee dress last week, then amazing acne aligator gladiator sandals this week) and now they even have the most adorable french bull dog puppy mascot.
after living and (window)shopping in london for a couple of years i have to say i’m really impressed with the selection in montreal. it helps that the rent is signifigantly less so i can pad my closet with affirming goodies..

  13. Wondering if this is where you saw it but I think Queen Michelle from Kingdom of Style featured Reborn on her blog once!
As for the store itself, I went there a couple of times, ultra hyper end cool. Thought it was just relative, since there is no other store in comparision with Reborn in Montreal, but now that I moved out of Mtl and look back, I realize it was still a pretty damn cool store in global standards! And can’t beat the beautiful location in the stone paved streets.
