I don’t have children. That’s probably an obvious enough fact. My body tells me I’m probably never going to have any. However, I do have this blog and quite often refer to it in that very context… ‘Oh no…it’s gone down…that’s my baby!!!!’, ‘Yeah… I do love my baby’, ‘What has Typepad done do my baby?!?’ and so on and so forth. Yes, you may now proceed to laugh.
Unfortunately I’ve been guilty of child neglection recently as my brood has grown a little. You might have noticed my posting has been…um…sporadic…not entirely irregular but not exactly spot on either. This is all because the newborn baby DazedDigital.com has hatched and is having some teething problems so do bear with it and the neglection to my firstborn.
In terms of content, I’m quite chuffed with the interview I did with Gareth Pugh where he was incredibly frank and surprisingly business minded about the whole…well… business thing which leaves me wondering what will Paris bring him come October when he has his first show there…

yes.. your baby 🙂
and yes.. i also agree with gareth! Paris really is alot scarrier than london .
hey susie, i think its great to see someone who started out as a fashion blogger becoming such a success in the actual industry. i love dazed digital, so i have love for both yo’ babies
claire @ young-shields x
I’ve been utterly enjoying your articles on Dazed Digital! That was a truly great interview with Gareth, honestly one the best I’ve read. Also totally love the redesign of the site.
I agree with Claire;) Love your blog!
The article is very interesting. Would you write (here at blog) a little bit about you? I mean, a short story about how did it all began? (your love to fashion and then how it became your job)
🙂
God i’d love to meet Gareth Pugh. He’s such an inspirational designer, and so creative. His work isn’t just ‘ugly-pretty’, it’s ugly-stunningly-beautiful. The best kind of beauty is always unconventional.

You must’ve been nurturing baby # 2 with a lot f motherly love because it is one cool baby.
Excellent interview, Susie! (Here’s hoping this comment takes…)
Just busy catching up, well done on the Dazed writing, I’m off to check it out in more detail.
hi
i’m wondering if you can help me…
i remember you mentioning the penelope tree article in this month’s observer woman magazine…bear with me…there was a purple bowler hat in the fashion pages towards the back of which i am desperate for. i was sure it was topshop but i can’t find it in store nor on the website and i have stupidly thrown away the mag. do you still have it floating around and if so could you possibly point me in the right direction…?! i am DESPERATE for this hat!!!
an avid stylebubble devotee xx
Hey Kate: I can’t recall a purple bowler at all…which is odd and I don’t have the magazine anymore either… can anyone else help?
Thanks everyone by the way…it’s a funny path I’ve put myself on but I like happy accidents…
Great interview…congrats on your career taking off so well.
you are doing an amazing job susie. Loved the Gareth Grazia comment!! It is a great, great interview. all this hard work will pay off for you for sure. guy @ fashion156 xx

I’m coming back from DD website. It’s very good, I enjoyed every interview you did. I’ll visit the website everyday now.

Awww….I think they have your eyes! Your babies are great 🙂
i really like the interview. i’m so glad everything is working out for the best for you. i love so much reading your blog and even with the sporadic posts on this first baby of yours i wish you luck in your career. may sytle bubble live forever, i’ll keep reading, xo
Kate – re: that purple bowler hat, I still have that OM issue and yes, it is Topshop, from the new autumn collection according to Jo Jones, at £20. I hope this helps! K x
Well Susie – you’ve amazed me not because of you gorgeous babies and your great parenting skills but I’ve actually changed my mind about Gareth Pugh. I read the article on Dazed Digital and am impressed that he is going to Paris and necomign a grown up – whilst many will have a sentimental attachment to London and all the trappings of village fame it gives ( editorial stuff) there is nothing more important than commecial success to make you a fashion success ref KL and YSL (Patric Berger).
I’m glad he wants the success and knows where his butter will be. I will now look forward to his collection and what design progress he will makee.

PS – my head also gets completely muddled and goodness knows where my Patric Berger thing came from when I meant Pierre Berge – the other guy is a football player?! I give up juggling blogs, work and an MA is going give me dementia!

Well done, you should be proud of baby #2 and you’re still posting here more frequently than some of us, that’s not too shabby at all! Maybe give yourself a bit of time before having any more though.. A girl can only do so much!
Gareth Pugh is one of my idols – his creative genius baffles me. We were at the same new years eve party last year, but to do an interview with him would be a dream come true. Jealous much? x
I didn’t realise you were writing for Dazed digital as well, how do you find the time? Great site I just added to my list of online bibles. You are forgiven for neglecting your baby as you are usually such a dedicated mummy.
Good interview! The last bit made me think, London really is all about the ‘what’s new’ and it must be hard as a young designer to be the hot thing for a couple of seasons but then have to watch your back to see who’s coming up behind you. You either have to be really strong and get snapped up to head an international house, really business savvy to keep your own label going, or really avant garde (I know you hate that expression!) and keep pushing the envelope. What you can’t do is just carry on doing what you’re doing or you get left behind.
On a slight tangent, I’m not surprised at the news that Henry Holland is moving into TV (he’s hosting a fashion/music prog on Channel 4 with The Chung). I can’t see his label making great strides in the future because I think the novelty of ‘kooky Henry’ will wear off as the next fun, youthful look comes along. I didn’t understand Gareth Pugh’s comments about ‘certain magazines who do things and certain magazines who don’t and I’m very aware of that and it really doesn’t bother me one little bit.’ Has he been slighted by magazines who won’t give him coverage? I wonder who? (Ah Grazia! Thanks Guy…!)
Disneyrollergirl: I had to play the editing game…. you know how it goes…. was a bit to risque for some ppl….oh dear….Holland on TV…. yikes…. I’ll watch it with trepidation….
I see the future and it is bubble.
