Fone Fash Notes

phonelist.jpg

Is it complete lunacy that I write notes on my phone to remind me what I need to be hunting for on my shopping jaunts, eBay/online searches and charity shop rounds and then set regular reminders to alert me with a lovely soothing harp sound?

Yes it is.  Please cart me off to the nearest psychiatric ward pronto.  Thank you.

  1. i have it written down in a notepad!
and i’ve been searching for liberty print too … besides chloe sevigny’s line for opening ceremony i haven’t found a thing. πŸ™

  2. I used to put notes on What to Get (If
Possible) into a file on my laptop…and sometimes I even use the old notes for reference. So your way is pretty sane, Susie..

  3. haha, i also think it is sane. i have a whole book of what i want to buy, only in paper and with cuttings out of magazines ^^ only i don’t have the money to buy all the things ^^

  4. I do it the old-fashioned way with a yellow-lined notepad and very messy scribbling. Because it is too true that you forget and then suffer a good case of the what-ifs and regret and all that unpretty stuff that lines the face. And we can’t have that!

  5. snap! i have a notepad, but when i’ve not got it with me i do the phone thing instead. it’s very useful and sensible in my opinion.
talking of which, one of my current phone notes is reminding me to find a tailor in soho to take in the bottom half (or 2/3) of my jodhpurs (i care not if they are “last season”) to make the shape even more exaggerated. and to fit my stick-like legs.
susie, was wondering if you know one that would understand this slightly unusual request? if not soho, then shoreditch area’d be great.
or if anyone else reading this does, please let me know.
    thanks!

  6. I guess i’m more old fashioned as I use post it. I’ve got pads and pads of it in my bags. πŸ™‚
    Besos!

  7. I say, considering that phones now play music, video, and do your taxes, why shouldn’t they also take your clothing notes? And how many times have you gone on a huge shopping trip (New York) and returned only to find THAT YOU DIDN’T BUY BOXERS ANYWHERE. Well, probably not that many, but fellas do you hear me?

  8. No no – I do the same. I have one ongoing list which I keep adding to and then review from time to time, and one ‘need it now!’ list.
I’d be intrigued to know what other people’s lists are…

  9. guilty of the exact same thing! funny how it’s never the actual ‘to-do list’ application, just saved as a draft message! also love notepad on the laptop for saving post and shopping ideas. do you sometimes feel so overwhelmed by the lists or trends and looks to try out that you don’t know where to start?!

  10. I do it too! On my phone, in notebooks, agendas and on “sticky notes” on my Mac. It’s especially useful for thrift shopping where you are going through mountains of stuff and can’t remember what you actually needed, and also to curb impulse buys because you have a list! Totally sane. πŸ˜‰

  11. Hello Susie! Just got to know your blog cuz an fashion icon from Brazil said she reads it everyday and love your stuff… well, I`m brazilian, btw! I LOVE the way you write and, checking all the news about Fashion Rio, one of the most important fashion shows in Brazil, I couldn`t help sending you the link… course it`s all in portuguese, but take a look at it and let me know what you think. If you want something translated, gimme a shout! =)

  12. Phew, and I thought it was just me that did it! Hahaha. I also jot down notes on what my next outfit should be when the inspiration strikes me, too.
By the way, this is my first comment here, but I’ve been a lurker for quite a while now. Hello! I love your blog, you have some really interesting posts. Keep up the great work! πŸ™‚

  13. great idea! phones are more in the moment’ than anything else, im stuck in an endless pattern of trying combinations on at home, coming to a decision that the missing puzzle piece is X, forgetting to buy or even look for X and then trying on the very same combinations the next week, and remembering the epiphany i had 5 days ago …clinical! i win. im the biggest lunatic.

  14. hahaha.. your not crazy….
if you are, then i am too.
everytime i find a new vintage shop i like, i text the adress to myself so i dont forget it.

  15. Hahaha I do the same, just on post-its that I stick on my macbook right smack dab in the centre so that I can’t do anything else before I go out and purchase those items.

  16. I do the exact same thing! Nice to know I’m not the only one. I take style research notes on my phone while shopping too…
first comment here by the way πŸ™‚ always amazed (in a good way) by your outfits!

  17. That’s rather hardcore of you! I’m still keeping old-fashioned shopping lists in my purse.

  18. Ahoy there fone fash note lovers! Ahoy here! Triple yay! I’m not alone! I can run wild in public with my phone ridden with my phone beeping off at me with my various fash notes…. hurrah!
Jeannie/Heather: Luckily, UK charity shops is heaving with Liberty print so I won’t go for wanting…. I shall amass a few pieces and report back!
Cordelia: Alas….two sizes too small for my big feet…
J: I generally shop without a specific aim and usually come back with something quite random but I like to keep lists to remind me every now and again so that I have general target…
Thom Wong: A lot of guys I know still have molly-coddling mothers who remind them to buy their boxers… sad, isn’t it?
Lisa: I love you incorporating algebra into your fash talk… me likes a lot! Do you cry ‘Eureka’? once epiphany hits you? Coz that would be a lovely touch…
I once used to use post-its but they get that curly effect and lose their stickiness and then are sucked into oblivion, never to be seen again.
I’m also liking the Stickies function on my Mac and whenever I boot up, I’ll have about 10 lists staring back at me…. makes me feel I have to accomplish them too..

  19. i’ve just completed my search for ruffles and got the sweetest S’nob dress from asos sale!
I do have the same affliction, unfortunately i went and got a hi-tech phone that actually has excel on it, so while i’m shopping i highlight or underline the important stuff, and once its got, i put it in italics.
i’m super sad, and thanks for reminding me about liberty print, gonna have to go shopping again!

  20. its not crazy at all, we all do it, especially me. I have been keeping on the lookout for a great silk scarf, and headbands and ribbons

  21. Well. Cant say I have alarms to remind me what to look for but i most definetly scribble it on my hand or something πŸ˜€ Otherwise i go O.T.T and go on a massive shopping rampage blowing all my targets-.-‘

  22. judging your list, methinks you’re going to look a bit victimy soon x

  23. Emmao: Excel on the phone? Oh no…can’t be having that… reminds me too much of my day job!
Anon: Yes, I’m a victim and I’m not ashamed to say so!
Anon: Your Liberty finds are lovely….!

  24. Of course I do – I have a PDA phone, and why have one if I can’t keep notes on it? Not to mention that the phone is the one thing you always have with you.
It so happens that I don’t maintain an Excel spreadsheet on my phone, but I could, because I keep my wardrobe inventory on a spreadsheet. Which I concede may be a bit weird by some people’s standards. But honest, I only use Excel because I haven’t found enough spare time to install Postgres and get it into a database. But I’m trying, okay?

  25. Ha ha, I do this too, but sans the alarm. I quite like looking back at the things i’d listed then promptly forgotten about.
