Freedom at Liberty

I used to think I had entered a Tudor castle whenever I was being taken into the black beamed building of Liberty department store.  Once inside, I then thought I was in a country cottage because of all the Liberty print florals.  Liberty of London springs to mind ‘quintessentially English.’.  But apparently there are only so many ways you can milk those floral prints and it came as a bit of a shock when I saw this spring summer 2007 ad for their new collection.  I was rooting around for the English heritage and the tweeness but I could not find it in this leather bathing suit clad chick with her space age angular lunch box.  We look towards the future this season and it seems Liberty is doing the same seeing as they’re also launching their own stand alone store as well to try and make it as a luxury good brand.  Just don’t forget the little old ladies like myself.

  1. I’m not really into their “luxury” range at all, because they’re not that well-made and really over-priced. I hope they’re not going to forget their roots…it’s really sad they’re scraping the Arts & Crafts floor.
