I have managed to drag myself out of bed to get myself to fashion week which commenced today. Instead of planning a week of outfits like I did last time, I’m just going to let my old outfit self do the job and just hope for the best.
My coverage of shows will be quite sparse since i’m writing daily round-ups for Fashion156 but here you’ll get the extra tidbits. The random thoughts that pop into my head as I navigate my way like a little lost bird through seasoned fashionistas.
Cock-up of the day? Not being able to pose properly. Models have a tough life. Fact. I was getting my outfit papped by some streetstyle photographer dude and standing next to him was Hilary Alexander of the Telegraph insisting that I wasn’t displaying my leg correctly to show off my shoes properly and she literally came up and grabbed my leg to get it to splay properly. The words swallow, me, up and ground spring to mind. On the upside, she did say my shoes were fabulous.
Then I got accosted by BBC Brasil asking me to state my views on the whole skinny model size 0 debate. Luckily, I had a stock answer prepared since its a subject I’ve had many a discussion about with colleagues.
Shows watched: Paul Costelloe (sweet, classic, late 60’s Paris vibe, lots of swing coats), Caroline Charles (embroidery, embroidery, rich fabrics, lots of fish tails), Ben de Lisi (surprisingly good, hot pink and bright gold metallics, short dresses more successful than the longer ones)
Wearing: Karl Largerfeld x H&M black sequin jacket, yellow cottong dropped waist cotton dress, vintage crepe shirt underneath, Des.sert skirt w/ oversized pockets and drawstring hem, yellow opaque tights, Moschino Cheap & Chic black ankle boots, grey wooly hat
Big brown bags still rule the bag rooster // This blue jacket kept on leaping out at me…. me need something in that shade of blue
Someone else joined the yellow brigade // Yellow but subtler…the woman carrying it is a stylist who makes them herself.
Grey tights and socks were all over. Many managed to make the H&M ribbed grey socks look equally as lux as the Prada ones.

I see in London fur is an ongoing trend too!
Great first day coverage Susie ๐ Very funny!
I’m in love with those baby blue pumps <3
I love your outfit! Hope you don’t overstress this week.
Ah! I have the 1st big brown bag too! Got it from Urban Outfitters. It’s spacious and oh-so-lovely!
I completly agree about the jacket. we do need more of that color. I thought the same thing when i saw marc jacobs. (and yes his collection was shite, but the blue gloves were pretty.)
I didn’t like the pointy collars, but I did love the hats and gloves… Susie, you look amazing. And do show us the pic when The telegraph decides to put it out.
Great outfit. I always love your fashion week outfits.
Was my comment deleted? I can’t see it here….
I dig that orange frame purse in the last shot. Her shoes are fabulous, too.
Meg: Post again…Typepad can be very iffy!
Great story about Hilary Alexander! What a moment:) Have fun at fashion week…can’t wait to see C Kane and Erdem…
argh! oh well! Anyway I was going to say how much I LOVE hilary alexander and lucky lucky you for meeting her (though i’m sure you have in the past). She’s totally one of the reasons I got into fashion. Also I HATE that faux paddington. Just as much as i despise the real ones. When will londoners please drop them?!! I like the yellow but i prefer a more acidic yellow or lemon yellow to the mustard tones.
Like the blue jacket. Since I saw the fab blue coat on the Lacoste show I’m searching for something similair!
Did you see bluefly’s new ads?

I’m not sure what to think of them.
i’m curious what your stock answer on the skinny debate is…
want to know that stock answer as well… ๐ have hated that socks-thingi, but now love the cream-version of em
jealous that you’re at fashion week.
but i do like your outfit.
Is fur quite hot in London??
