I like big hats and I cannot lie

Oh my god
Becky, look at her hat
Its so big
She looks like one of those weird old ladies
Who understands those weird old ladies anyway
They only talk to her because she looks like a total sad-act
I mean her hat
It's just so big
I can't believe it's so round
It's just out there
I mean, it's so old-fashioned
Look, she's just so BIZARRE

Alright, it's not that bizarre or old-fashioned but I have noticed how much I've been attached to my hats this fashion week, ones that are either vintage or Topshop.  Weirdly enough Toppers seem to do the perfect sized floppy hat for me that isn't too small for my bulbous head.

This vintage one is actually a tad small but I loved the woven decoration on it so much that I was willing to suffer the head pain…

This blue floppy one again from Toppers has served me well for over three years now…

My final floppy hat moment I got to wear Calla's A/W 11-12 hand-painted floppy hat that she very very kindly gave me.  It actually got a lot of "C'est jolie – le chapeaux" comments from many an elderly Parisian, in a similar vein to when I was wearing my vintage straw boater in Paris.

  2. oh gosh, are those comments from a passing public?
    how bitter 🙁
i think you wear these hats very well
i have a hat just like molly ringwald that i wear loud and proud ^^
also susie, just a catchup how are you doing in the fashion shows, have you managed to catch up on much sleep? 🙂
    xoxo

  3. Loving all the floppy hats!! And if that small one is wool, then it can be stretched…I’m sure there’s a milliner nearby who’d be willing to do that for you 🙂
(& btw, any chance you’re coming to Japan Fashion Week?)

  4. They’re so pretty! I don’t have the confidence to pull ’em off but I sure wish I did.
Were the comments on top from passerbys? That is so very mean of them. Just because they don’t have the guts to wear hats deosn’t mean they should criticize those who do.
Never mind them though, I think you look absolutely gorgeous…

  5. Nina P: No! I rejigged the lyrics of the beginning of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back… maybe it’s just me who remembers that bit in the song!

  6. Haha, no, Susie I remember that beginning of the song quite clearly! My cousin and I used to sing it to each other around the house haha ‘she’s looks like one of those rap guy’s girlfraaans’ Yep.
Anyway. Floppy hats! You look great. I love the trend, but I have a massive head so never though I could pull it off. Hmm but perhaps I will try just to see (and probably look ridiculous in the process)

  8. my favourite is the white woven vintage hat, although all of them are rather gorgeous. It’s sent me hankering for a floppy hat myself – seems like Topshop is the go-to destination!

  9. I was cracking up at your remix of “Baby Got Back!” love it! And the hats are amazing especially the last one! Absolutely gorgeous! Inspiring me to put that on my list of things to try on my next shopping outing.

  10. Wow you’ve got some great hats. I love the patterns you’ve chosen. In theory I love hats but I rarely wear them because I’m afraid they’ll be a little too much on my 5’1 frame. You pull them off perfectly!

  11. I have a bulbus head too, shame these kinds of hats don’t suit me. Love the floral version.

  12. lucky you, they look really good on you. My head is proper big and when I succeed in getting a hat on it, it ends up pulling my eyebrows about 3 inches up. Fuck my big head 🙁

  13. I love hats of all kinds! My collection is growing..I’m waiting for a floppy one in the mail right now – just like the ones you’re wearing in those photos above. I can’t wait to wear it 😀

  14. I love your hats – you are so lucky to able to look so good – I can never pull it off, but I don’t care I need a floppy number!

  15. OMG you wear those hats so well = gorgeous. Not sure if I could pull that off. Double OMG you got to meet Lee Oliveira = double gorgeous lol

  16. LOL I LOVE your sense of humor, clever introduction! I LOOOOOVVEEEE The floral print Floppy hat!! Very Dreamy! ‚ô•
