Bubble Mobile Moments + Filler

Bubble Mobile Moments + Filler

I have to thank Imran Amed of The Business of Fashion for part the title – it never occurred to me because I didn't think I would have anything to do with any sort of 'automobile' unless I miraculously passed my test in 'old' age.  I have to say, I was midly tempted to a) go renew my provisional license and b) go pick up a Theory test book this week because I was zipping around town in the Bubble-Mobile aka the Orla Kiely for Citreon DS3 car.  Someone called it a clown car but I suppose when people are zipping about in Mercs, Range Rovers and limos, I suppose there is a clownish quality about it – I'll take that as a compliment because I'm predictably a girly sucker who falls for vehicles that look cute, as opposed to manly ones that drives at speeds of 1000mph or what not.  So anyhow, I have some random pics LFW pics that involve the Bubble Mobile and other bits and bobs as well as some outfit filler.  Sadly as my camera has grown in size, I don't seem to whip it out to do the random tidbits that I used to do but on the up side, my catwalk images have gotten slightly better.  Once my wrist strength is up to scratch, I'll do more whipping out for the sake of more random snaps.

I know we've already had the Happy Filler outfit featuring one too many prints and colours but have we had it next to the Orla Kiely green acorn print?  Well, here it is in several instances, the sort of print mix that would make most people's eyes go a little bit square but as the perpetrating wearer of all of this, I can only defend myself with the simple fact that I was very SMILEY that day…

(Photos above by Phil Oh of Street Peeper and Vogue.com)

(Photo above by Tommy Ton for Style.com)

I didn't say more about this wondrous Issey Miyake skirt which I picked up for next to nothing on Yoox, which is now up there with eBay as being the site where two to three hours can be wasted searching through EVERY category there is…

Yes even the car mats are printed…

And my co-conspirators for fashion month?  Why, it's the very people who took the photos above – Phil Oh (left) and Tommy Ton (on the right) who were my backseat buddies during LFW.  We still have two more weeks of seeking for Asian food that doesn't exponentially suck in Paris and bleating on about how cold/windy/rainy it is (we're anticipating the worse…).

IMG_5065 IMG_5212

Sunday also yielded a bit of car/outfit co-ordination courtesy of another piece of Issey Miyake which I got from Fanny and the Cave's Topshop concession which is sadly no more – boo to that…

(Pics above by Phil Oh of Streetpeeper – Monki white jacket, Borne by Elise Berger white dress, Topshop fluro necklaces, Issey Miyake Pleats Please skirt, black tights, Chloe sandals – another Yoox find, Plotz fluro strand shopping tote, Alexander Wang clutch)

After road testing the Alexander Wang clutch on the go/zipping around in the car, I've decided this is actually the perfect size for bunging in invites, press releases and all the other jank I carry around…

There's a FOXY looking dashboard thanks to the mask in Mulberry's goodie bag.

Of course I had to try it on myself… Lead_pic

I think my Citroen Bubble Mobile was trying to compete with this customised Marc Jacobs Daisy taxi cab in the eye-grabbing stakes.  I can confirm that both were snapped by varying groups of Spanish tourists riding those open-top buses…

My other partial co-conspirator for fashion month is Alex Fury of SHOWstudio, who also rode the back of the Bubble Mobile for a bit.  We invariably sit together at the Paris shows as we're deemed as 'internet press' and spend a scary amount of time gabbing and dissecting collections…

Alex was there to witness my mini nervous breakdown on day four after Christopher Kane when at that point, I had had no food or water and was feeling a little delirous.  Thankfully, i was saved by this banana kindly given to me by Pete the driver… I think Alex may have overhead my saying to Pete "Your banana is a little bit rotten… but in a good way…"  Read into that how you will…

I full reccuperated after having two helpings of this butternut squash, parmesan shavings and crispy sage pot of deliciousness at the Topshop venue at Old Billingsgate Market (Verdict of venue?  Beautiful, ample backstage area, amazing view of Tower Bridge round the back… but can be treacherous to travel to if the underpass is closed…)

Nobody needs a close-up of my nervous breakdown outfit (Monday was a scheduling nightmare…)…

(Wearing vintage Burberry trench, Proenza Schouler shirt, sequinned t-shirt from Hong Kong, Michelle Jank necklace, Boyy box bag, Marc Jacobs trousers, Zucca trousers underneath, Leifsdottir sandals)

Instead, let's focus on Saga Sig's amazing vintage shoes… yes, VINTAGE… !

Yesterday was I fared better food-wise too and thus concludes a treacherous week that was in part, aided by the Bubble-Mobile but was I also attribute much love to the comraderie of my fashion month co-conspirators…

(Pic by Phil Oh of Streetpeeper – ASOS x Natascha Stolle coat, Miu Miu bag, vintage Moschino shirt, vintage pink lace-print dress underneath, Jas M.B. leather waders, Nicholas Kirkwood butterfly sandals)

P.S. Frustratingly, someone thought the previous post on the car was an advertorial and no doubt will think the same about this one…NO, it's NOT – and if it was, I'd have to say so by law (I think – that been passed yet?  Oh well, I'll err on the safe side anyway…)  I actually did have a whale of a time in the car and whilst yes, it was kindly lent to me along with driver Pete, it did not involve any ¬£¬£¬£.  Disclaimers on posts?  Depressing stuff…

P.P.S. On another evil brand related note, I'll be contributing to the Uniqlooks site when I get back from Paris fashion week… oh the brain washing!  You lulled into the Uniqlo stupor yet?

Irish Heart at the Heart of the IFTAS!!
Saturday 12th. February saw the 8th Irish Film & Television awards (the IFTAS) in Dublin. The Irish and International celebrities were dressed to impress and the red carpet glistened with the sparkle of jewels, sequins and crystals and rustled with the swish of taffeta, silks and satins. This fashion event showed an array of international imagination proudly mixed with the best of our Irish designer creations. Encouraging and rewarding excellence in original and creative work the IFTAS was an ideal partner for Irish Heart, whose whole philosophy is to promote original, traditional design with a modern twist. Its unique range of Celtic and Irish jewelry has some real showstoppers! Joss Stone and Joely Richardson were just two of the beautiful celebrities who went home with the coveted “Irish Heart Pendant”, a designer piece specially commissioned to reflect the spirit of Ireland! An exceptional piece for exceptional women!! http://www.irishheart.com was proud to be part of it!

    Amazing car …I want one!
Ahh, you’re a fellow Uniqlo fan, I’m considering contributing to the UNIQLOOKs site also, just haven’t quite decided which of their women’s clothing to wear, it’s a toss up between a pair of their cargo pants with a HEATTECH camisole and some funky heels or one of their +J shirts combined with some cropped skinny jeans and wedges… decisions! Have you decided on an outfit?

When we arrived at Soupergirl’s rented kitchen space in upper Northwest D.C., we entered into a frenzy of classical music blaring, pots simmering, boxes of farm-fresh produce scattered about, cooks frantically peeling carrots and chopping onions and getting ready to send out 350 quarts of soup for the week.
