I'm now thinking there is an evil conspiracy amongst knitwear designer to get me working out or more to the point, doing ANY kind of strenuous physical activity that isn't just walking from a to b. Actually, come to think of it, walking might be a stretch – I have afterall been known to get the bus a few stops down Oxford Street (I'm ALL about the Oyster beeps…).
First Tom Scott guilt tripped me for bunking off P.E. lessons when I was at school but even then I decided that his clothes for S/S 11 are far too cute and covetable to harbour illwill towards memories of hockey sticks bashing into shins and err… aggressive 'Win Win Win' team mates.
Now, Brooke Roberts whose science-meets-fashion knitted bid continues for another technically-ridden season, and in particular the lookbook images that accompany her S/S 11 are making me think of nothing else but that ol' fave – Kanye West's The New Workout Plan. I can't deny that once upon a time that this song stuck in my head so much to the point that I did indeed fancy myself a rapper, an NBA star AND a dude with a car. Brooke has once again used her radiographing background to have CT scans bursting into pattern onto dresses, skirts and a lonesome fetching unitard that I feel is the benchmark for any workout outfit. From her trusty jacquard knits, she has turned to tubular techniques which doesn't mean a whole lot to me but the most discernable shift this season is the layering of knits that sees transparent panels 'sutured' (I'm not ashamed to say that I learnt what a suture was from ER… I'm a TV potato at the best of times…) onto opaque ones adding texture and also giving the CT scan patterns an energy, as though they might be rippling.
The shapes being less sculptural and more sporty, and being akin to something like what an easy breezy aerobics instructor might wear off-duty, all of course points towards his course of the action for the lookbook. Fun, smiley and most importantly, ACTIVE. This girl can do twenty star jumps and possibly a few herkies too. Yes, I did just Wikipedia to find out what exactly a herkie was.
Well, you can smile, jump and "Awesome-oh-wow-like-totally-freak-me-out-I-mean-right-on" all you want at me but I ain't budging. However, I will GLADLY take Brooke's beautiful knits (trying this on for size but mind you, it's not for keeps!) and slowly slug off to a less sportif place. Preferably with my feet dragging and a bit of sleep still stuck to my eyes.

I love your jacket Susie!! xx
very cute love these style soo xx
Susie make sure you write pony hair as pony skin is literally the skin of a pony and pony hair is from cow leather. Love the knits they seem almost abstract expressionist, I can’t think of the artist right now but love them either way!
how fun!

You are wearing my favourite dress of the bunch, although the grey and white one is a close second. Love the simple shape of this line combined with the understated colours and abstract patterns. I could easily live in a wardrobe of these!
hehe I just Wikipedia’d herkie too..
I must say I prefer your poses -that chick (although beautiful) kind of looks like she belongs in an institution…and the white walls aren’t really helping her case lol
