This is a post that has no complete conclusive product to show you but perhaps you might be interested in the journey that Mia Morikawa has undertaken, especially if like me, you're a fan of her neck ruffs KaPowWow which have done phenomenally well (made it onto a Vogue Italia cover!).  I heart the ruff so much that I refuse to just confine it to its purpose as a neck ruff and have worn it err… around my bum, on my head, around the bust….

Anyhow Morikawa is branching out from the KaPowWow neck ruffs and has been travelling around India and has returned to the roots of her own name (Morikawa meaning Forest River) and will be launching a new label 'Forest River' this September.

The intriguing clues that will make me follow this journey to the unveiling…

The blurb accompanying the text…

"A self-portrait in garments influenced by the roads, mountain tops and landscapes of India. Forest / river is a coming of age story, an amorphous manifesto of sorts…"

A curious colour palette that also has some knickers and calf's eyelashes thrown into it for good measure…

"Rose/TeaSage/dust covered cactus/Ivory/camel bones/baby cow eyelashes/Charcoal/lemur face/Red rock rust zinc shoes/fresh kickers"

I gather that the collection is also made in India too using local artisans…

"Heading towards NGO women's weave headquarters in MAHESHWAR next week.  Handmade fabrics/the super old school way. …on the board."

Then there are the teaser images which I don't think reflects the full scope of the Forest River project… but are beautiful images by themselves…

The physical product which is available now are these shoes that are again, made in India (not in factories…) and limited to 90 pairs…

It could be a fruitless journey I'm taking but I'll go on it nonetheless… afterall, it is but a hop and a skip through emails, a showroom and possibly some form of an event/presentation in London…. and not the arduous journey that Morikawa has taken…
