Itty Bitty Pitti Worn

>> Luisaviaroma organised a special event over last weekend titled Firenze4Ever, basically a personal style blogger's dream where they got to dress up in the A/W 10-11 collections and take beautiful pics all over Florence – 40 bloggers went and I'm sure you've been seeing the fruits of that weekend of 'labour'.  Cue a ton of those much-loved bloggerisms

Sadly I wasn't able to come and coming to Pitti to cover the shows there ended up being knackering enough so sadly, my opportunities of prancing around Florence in fancy outfits were very much dwindled.  In between rushing back to the hotel to get a decent wi-fi connection, getting to events on time as well as my being the sort of militant person that thinks "We must check out EVERYTHING!", outfit bloggersims were a bit of an afterthought…

Still, it is Itty Bitty Pitti afterall…  so we have the outfit I wore for the Haider Ackermann show.  Imran of BoF commented that he had never seen me in so little colour.  That may be true but put me in a colourful rainbow box and you might just see me breaking out into the unthinkable…monochrome!  This outfit is really all about the beautiful Roberta Furlanetto gazar balloon trench from the S/S 09 collection where the fabric has a life of its own due to its crisp, slightly wiry surface.  I put this on and feel like I distinctly SHOULDN'T be putting anything else on with it…

For the Jil Sander show, Steve and I did the unthUNKable and accidentally wore matching outfits.  Well it wasn't so much an accident as baggage malfunction where I had run out of things to wear because I packed extra lite and clothes kept getting rain soaked and err… pasta sauce covered.  It's nausea-inducing to say that you think your boyfriend has on a swell outfit… well I'll take the chance and make you puke a little… he DID INDEEDY have on a swell outfit so much so that I'm now out to try and find my own version of head to toe gingham (I call upon you Christopher Kane S/S 10 collection to be on a 90% off sale NOW!).

Mine wasn't as swell as it was last minute.  I've been overwearing this white shirt that I picked up from About Glamour in New York, which has a cut-out dโˆšยฉcolletage and a handy Miu Miu-esque standalone collar.  I bunged the lovely I Heart Norwegian Wood scuba dress over it – I say bunged because it really was a case of "Wow there are no clean clothes left in the case…"

  1. WOW. All three are absolutely stunning outfits that are simply beyond awesome. And the unintentional matching is rather super.

  2. Bummer you couldn’t make the shoot…
The monochromatic outfit you have in this post is officially one of my all time Susie faves. I’ve been really into gauze lately, and the coat is brilliant.

  3. It’s a testament to Steve’s style that you can both wear the same pattern and look equally good! I love my man…but I would be in a sad state if we ended up having coordinating outfits…T-shirt/plaid shirt/jeans/converse…not really my style! ha!

  4. Wow… I just stumbled on your blog and am blown away by the sophistication in your sartorial choices. Really advanced stuff. And you look great. Thanks for being a new destination for me!
P.S., Loved the salted cabbage post.

  5. I wish I could look that amazing with no clean clothes to wear and having “bunged” an outfit together. You are always so inspiring in your sartorial choices!

  6. Love the black and white outfit! But I have a question- do the Melissa platforms rub on your feet? Are they comfortable to walk around in for long periods? Thanks!

  7. Andrea: Definitely don’t rub at all! I’ve walked all over town in these…just need to be careful on cobbles as they rock a bit (there’s a cut-away at the back of the platform…!
Thanks for the love for the last minute outfit… and the monochrome one… !

  8. I think it is great that you support Canadian designers! Angies stuff is amazing!

  9. BTW I saw the Christopher Kane gingham dresses (in light blue and coffee, not the navy ones though) for 50% off in Browns main store on South Molton Street yesterday xxx

  10. What?? Not such a great outfit? I think not! The necklace is superb and you look unbelievably classy (with a touch of quirkyness of course) in your monochrome outfit treat. I think it’s amazing you get to travel so much and wear all these beautiful outfits. <3

  11. wow you suer clean up good. maybe that sounds bad but i mean it good, funny good. you do clean lines really well. and you have those winged shoes in more than one colour? grrrr. angie’s dress looks great over the cut out shirt and with that blue necklace too, it’s just yum.

  12. A really inspiring style that you were wearing! I’m inspired to do a similar one with my Miu Miu collar ๐Ÿ™‚ I really enjoyed how you played around with colours, textures and patterns. Impressed by how it all fell together so well.

  13. SwanDiamondRose: Cheeeeers… the shoes are the same colour…different Florence light me thinks!
Sophie: I have a tendency to get nervous and stressed when it’s too hot so I had a wardrobe panic when I got to that day…not to say those are actually ’emergency’ type clothes – they were just literally all I had left that were clean…
