GFW 2010: Shear Me

>> Is it a little wrong that I'm looking for pieces from graduates to buy?  Shame on me for not recognising the 'art' of everything and reducing things down to "That's beautiful, I'd wear that!".  What can I say, graduate shows coincide bang in with resort shows and you and I both know which of the two I'd rather wear.  What with sites like Not Just a Label facilitating graduates with selling their collections straight away, there's no reason why I can't indulge in some fantasy buying at the graduate shows that perhaps could become a reality.  The fantasy has struck with two shearling bombers as it so happens… nothing to down with the fact that err… the shearling stuff is EVERYWHERE for A/W 10-11.  That, Kim Smith West (De Montford) and Garry Butterfield (Northampton) have gone interesting things to what will be a diluted material by the time October comes around is to their credit.  I love the combination of the leopard skin as well as the navy shearling collar and cuffs on Kim's jacket as well as the lattice effect on Garry's jacket.  Both being menswear pieces means that they're also hulking cocoons that will make me feel like I've borrowed Tom Cruise's Top Gun jacket… and that's surely a great feeling, no?
