Cold Bliss

>> For Brooklynites, did you happen to see a walking, pulping mess that was melting onto the sidewalks in rags that could be mistaken for clothes but due to the amount of sweat dripping off them, were more like sodden dish cloths?

That was me, walking around for the past five days during the humid and hot flurry of high temperatures in New York.  I sincerely apologise if the aforementioned blob of a mess did get in your sight path.  I did take three COLD showers a day to try and alleviate the problem.

Too hot, too cold, too rainy, too cloudy… I am Goldi-celcius when it comes to weather at the moment.  Back to London though and it's chillier, colder and yes raining.  I'll shut up and take it though because it means today, I can wear more than just sweat-sodden rags.  I'm at Graduate Fashion Week at the moment and what with the New York heat situation, it's been a bit outfit-lite around here.  I therefore may indulge in a cheeky outfit post or two…

I picked up a few vintage bits and bobs that are allowing me to live out my obsession with Karla Spetic's A/W10 palette of orange, pink and lilac.  More importantly, I'm wearing three layers… and tights.  Ah… cold, rainy bliss…

  1. Love this outfit!!! Love the colors. Great post, like always!

  2. There’s something no one seems to notice.. if you dress so fashion forward like you do, you’re obviously not going to attract any guys whatsoever ..men would much rather go for the basic skinny jeans and strappy top kind of girl …
and please…you can be fashion forward and avant grade and NOT look like you’re old … and can’t you be more feminine ????
    YOU’RE A GIRL , NOT A WOODEN MANNEQUIN .
and anyway, I’ve been to London tons of times before, and I have yet to see someone so poorly dressed 😐 like you have robbed an entire thrift store or something

  3. Oi Elle…as her boyfriend where do I figure in here? You are of course right. ALL men in this world are inextricably drawn to girls in strappy tops and it is the duty of women everywhere to dress accordingly. Somehow I went against conformity in this instance and chose Susie…or maybe the outfit she was wearing when we first met blinded me…I guess we’ll never know. We’re very happy though.

  4. Huh? I can’t believe what ‘elle’ wrote!! Not every girl wants to dress with the sole purpose of attracting men. And some men will find this attractive anyway. That was a very strange comment to leave!
I think you look bloody great as usual susie 😉

  5. Elle…what exactly is ‘avant grade’? I expect we should just politely ignore people who leave rude messages with ignorant typos! It’s a sad life you have if you feel the need to attack someone on their blog.

  6. you look absolutely amazing here!! loving the jacket especially, but the whole thing completely works. shoes and skirt = fantastic.
and elle – just for the record – i dress for myself. not my boyfriend of over 2 years (who loves me to pieces). he, in fact, has never been one for just the old skinny jeans and strappy tops. rather, he encourages me to get out there and get into bright colors.
if you like simple outfits that’s great for you, but how about practicing some live and let live?
i think it’s fun to see what other people are doing, and to be encouraged by them. you go susie!!

  7. New York in the summertime. Nothing quite like sweating like a pig. I lived in Brooklyn so usually by the time I got to Manhattan I was drenched and soggy. Such glamorous days!

  8. Oh thats an amazing outfit! I love the jacket but I’m even more in love with the shoes! ;D

  9. Oh and @ elle: She should be proud about wearing stuff like that! (which is not at all poor or thriftstore-like)
It’s not because you think all men like girls with skinny jeans (with all due respect, some girls DO look like sausages that way) and strappy tops; that the rest of the world should share your opinion!
Now, at which guy would you look twice: the one with the same style you’ve seen a million times before or the one that has a different and unique style and looks great in it?
