People might think that I'm shopping ALL. THE. BLEEDIN'. TIME.  I'm really not.  I'm slowly getting back to my meandering ways with shops because of the freed up time but I'm still holding onto my swift and targeted ways.  With Topshop, I tend to go very early and I'm very fast – no changing rooms, no holding things up to the bod – in and out, quick quick quick.  This morning, I changed it up by going to a branch that's not my usual Oxford Circus haunt… nope, I took the 18 minute ride to Knightsbridge, their new store.  I was officially 'checking out' the store but really, I was fist-pumping for a chance to shop in an empty Topshop, a real haven because even at 9am opening times, the one on Oxford Circus fills up fairly quickly.  So I wanted to do an even quicker ship-shape-shop this morning…

Bang across from Harrods, obviously this is going to be a different kettle of fish from the Oxford Circus mammoth branch.  For a start, it's smaller encompassing three fairly small floors and it's a little more tightly edited.  They even acknowledge their location in their special Knightsbridge Topshop zine that they are declaring "Hoorah!" in recognition of their rather more "Rah!" surroundings.  The more 'monied' clientale at the Knightsbridge branch will therefore be getting…

…plastic bagged-up dresses… as in dresses that are a bit more embellished and more expensive…

And… shocker… I'm actually liking some of the Kate Moss for Topshop items… me thinks they've had a bit of a "rethunk" with the collection…

The dress on the right doesn't look quite right on the hanger but I'm really into the short in front, long at back shape that I guess is a half-way house between longer lengths and a miniskirt…

I spy the new High Summer lookbook plastered over the spiral staircase….

The purpose of the shop though was one thing and one thing only… Meadham Kirchhoff's new range for Topshop.  I've yet to articulate my feelings on their arresting A/W 10-11 collection and I will do so soon because their collection inspired me in more ways than purely on a "want this, want that" level but more that the collection has renewed my wardrobe approach… TO BE DISCUSSED LATER… and that is a strong promise…

Their new pieces for Topshop fortunately runs in the vein that their recent collections has been going along and the lookbook images that accompanies the collection massively supports their vision… I'm glad that they got to articulate a vision that was theirs despite the fact that it's a Topshop range…

I went easy today as the collection doesn't officially drop until tomorrow… but I'm eyeing up this beautiful padded jacket that is frayed around the edges and this sequinned nude lace dress that overlays some hard glitter spots, a similar texture to the glitter that crinkles and crackles in their S/S 10 crunchy tees and a motif that runs throughout the Topshop collection…

For now, I bought one of the sheer navy glitter dotty tees that I think I might also get in the nude… this outfit hints a little at the sort of feelings Meadham Kirchhoff's new collection instilled in me… a welcome "messiness" that I've been wanting to regain for pure reasons of self-satisfaction… even if it isn't too everyone's taste

  1. That Oxford Circus Topshop scared me when I first went into it – and the fact that it was full of spanish people who I could barely understand scared me even more!!
I actually don’t mind Kate Moss’s collection – I’m not usually fond of models turning designers, but hers isn’t too bad!
I love your cage skirt, and how it just peeps out the bottom!!

    Managed to fix your email?

  2. I’m the same I shop extremely early and very fast! I wrap skirts/trousers round my neck to see if they will fit and find the closet mirror then till, then I’m out before the stampede arrives. The crowd has really put me off shopping in recent years I like to concentrate when I’m shopping! Im much more of a covent garden person or just shopping out of london full stop. Manchester is a great place for shopping outside of london, its even better for vintage!!! Shopping should be a pleasure and not a stressful experience!
I must say though after this post I will make an effort to visit the knightsbridge store! I also had a sneak preview of the new Kate Moss collection today and I must say I am also impressed it has upped its level of sophistication and I really like the soft feminine colour
    palette.
Thank you for another great post !

  3. Ahh how I wish this kind of thing was stocked in my local Topshop, alas it is tiny but I guess there isn’t such a market for the more expensive things here as they rely on the college students- like me haha. And when I go to a big city I tend to head to the more unusual stores; the amount of times I’d been to Birmingham without ever having stepped in the Topshop store!
    Some very lovely things there.

  4. I love that cage dress and the denim shirt. I’ve been looking for one exactly like it but unfortunately I live in the stupid state of Maine that only appreciates North Face jackets and Abercrombie sweats…so not much vintage. anyway i love your blog!!

  5. that topshop looks so different from other ones i’ve been in, its so chic.
i wish i had your speed for shopping, i have to walk at snail pace and circle round for ages, i’m like a cat trying to get comfortable. i get much worse in cd & book stores.
love the dotty tee, its so pretty.

  6. The glitter t-shirt is amazing! So hoping the manchester branch, where I work handily, will be getting them so I can use my discount! 🙂 love the blog xx

  7. I’m definitely stopping by that store one of these days…but I am hardly ever around Knightsbridge when in London. Hmm!
Love the top you bought, I’ve been eyeing that one up myself too!

  8. i think this collection is beautiful and i’m hoping it will be in the NYC store tomorrow! that top looks fab on you 🙂

  9. I like the Topshop collection, nobody does embellished clothes better than we do here in India. You should make a trip to Delhi some day and judge for yourself. 🙂 Your style is amazing Susie, love the Norwegian Wood cage dress.

  10. I just wanted to say that your sense of fashion is extremely refreshing to see in a sea of leggings and t-shirts conforming to the “norm.” Seeing your photos and reading your posts inspire me to step out of my own fashion comfort zone and explore other possibilities. I admire your sense of adventure in dressing up. Keep up the good work 🙂
Also, I absolutely LOVE the new glitter dot shirt! It’s fabulous and I can’t wait to see how else you plan on wearing it.
    Cheers!

  11. I was totally surprised by Kate Moss’s latest collection – what a U-turn! I was watching the promo video two days and it was all so ethereal and vibrant. Loved it.
Also, the sequinned nude lace dress is amazing. It looks like peachy pink gold leaf… I guess I better go check out the collection myself come the weekend. But I’m sure everything will be gone…

  12. Can’t wait to get down to Top Shop for the Meadham Kirchhoff collection, LOVE that sequinned lace nude dress. xx

  13. Love that black padded jacket…every zipper and seam is in EXACTLY the right place. What’s more, it already looks as if it’s been lived in for years, which gives it a special aura…

  14. I love the MK collection but the one thing I really wanted was waaaay too expensive for current budget. Sigh. Xxxc
