Getting into Industrie

>> I can't quite keep up with the number of documentaries, live-stream talks and Q&A sessions where fashion's big hitters are candidly talking about their career paths.  Industrie is a new magazine that claims to be the world's first "culture of fashion" magazine, offering readers an in-depth look into the fashion industry via extensive articles and investigative articles on all the fashion biggies.

The first issue features Tom Florio, Publishing Director of Vogue, Natalie Massenet, Founder of
Net-A-Porter and and Luis Venegas, Founder of Fanzine137.  Stylists Karl Templer, Katie Grand, Marie Am√©lie-Sauv√© and Panos Yiapanis will be discussing their careers and creative processes.  Past collections get another reinterpretation by S√∏lve Sundsb√∏ and Camilla √Ökrans.  Patrick Demarchelier also has a lunch date with Industrie before shooting Daria Werbowy and Lara Stone.  The mag will also delve into the story of editors becoming cover stars, hence the change-up in cover from the original Daria cover to the Wintour one here.

I realise, this is all a press spiel and I haven't read it yet seeing as the magazine isn't out until the 25th May but I may as well as pre-warn the industry nut heads that will lap this stuff up and also perhaps it's worth enquiring via their shell website whether Industrie will be landing in their local newsy.

  1. It does seem overkill on looking at people’s attainment in an accountancy and management consultancy way and also potentially a candidate for the Have I Got News For You industry magazine slot… but I’ll probably love it!

  2. Did you see the Inter Milan v Barcelona match? The Inter Physio was wearing quite the suit.

  3. It could be interesting, but I won’t waste my money on it. I’m not much for bios & I’m feeling like most magazines I see on the stands are a bit uninspired these days. I’m much more interested in independent fashion blogs like this one, or in street style blogs.

  4. The cynic in me says, “Yeah, really showing the character of the fashion industry: gratuitous worship of French people reflected in the lame title spelling.”
The smarter part of me says, “Lame spelling doesn’t necessarily equal worship.”
The more positive part of me says, “Yay! I’m excited! I want to read it! I really enjoy the cover”.

  5. Hm, I would like to read it first, before I judge if it is good or not. Do any know if it will be available online? I’m living in Brazil and I guess they will not sell it in my area. xoxo, Sandra.

  6. I’m quite intrigued by this mag…it does sound interesting, but all heresay till I actually read it.
P.S. I really enjoyed your comment on Ashe Mischief’s post (sorry ’bout being a creeper, but I was reading all the reactions with real interest). People do seem to expect an openess from a blogger that frankly is outside of normal interactions. I’m also not from a wealthy family, but I do feel people are “blaming” people with bigger budgets for others going into debt…and I don’t agree with that. We’re all personally responsible for our choices, no? And ultimately it is personal. Anyway, tangent major, but I appreciated your view on the subject!
