>> I had meant to post this closer to the show but it's just as well that I waited, as an interview with Margherita Missoni has popped up which actually answers a few of my queries about the stonkingly cool jewellery she designed for the first time for Missoni's A/W 10-11 collection (she's in charge of all accessories now – bags, sunnies and jewellery). She basically echoes my initial thoughts about the jewellery which cleverly weighted down the highland fling-type knits…
"We wanted something modern, smooth, chromed, shiny and a little bit
futuristic for the jewels, the shoe stirrups and the sunglass lenses,
since the basic idea was trying to create a contrast with the raw and
rough materials incorporated in the designs. The collection includes
quite a few rather heavy materials and natural colours and to avoid
that such designs could become a little bit too ethnic or folkish and
that the African and Scottish inspirations became too literal, we opted
for metal jewellery."
Beauty aside, I also wanted to point out a more practical point for my own selfish reasons though is that ridden-with-metal-allergies ol' me is a happy bunny indeed to see metal cuff bracelets and necklaces using knitted collars and thick sweaters to act as a barrier between skin and tingly metal and thus avoiding pustular rashes.
Amazing, gorgeous pieces!!

obsessed. the dark lipstick looks so stunning against chunky knit fabric…
Lookin lovely
I love the contrast between the textures of the metal and the knits, and the matchy matchy colours. Missoni are always amazing though…
But won’t the zipper of the knittted piece give you rashes as well? But I’m sure there are non-zipper varieties for you, Susie. 🙂
i love the neckpieces and the bracelets on their wrists
