The Kiss of Frilliness

>> Steve has an ongoing joke that I have a love of indulging in chats about "periods, stickers and boys…" in that exact order.  No, it's not of course some misogynistic attack and actually, he'd be right to a teensy weensy certain extent, in that I have on occasion indulged in chats about periods, stickers AND boys… and when you throw in my shameless love for images like these, I can't really blame him for believing in my utter girly girl ness and my sticker-loving tendencies.

Rita Saardi's new collection "Waiting to Be Kissed" is perhaps for the unabashed lovers of frou frou, flowers and yes, maybe a few puffy stickers and boys too (though of course, it goes without saying, you may be waiting to be kissed by girls…).  In this set of polaroid images from the collection, I think the core essence of the collection is most deftly expressed… the diaphanous quality of the pieces, the array of sheer fabrics, , the emphasis on lingerie that is dying to be exposed, the exaggeraged floral adornments, the fem-fem colours and above all, the utter and unapologetic romanticism that Saardi herself isn't afraid on overdosing in (see her blog that covers lomo images of Montmartre, Orphelia, cotton candy, Feist and other frilly, frothy things…).

  1. gorgeous array of girlyness but fabulously frou frou not sickly in nay way.
Oh to waft around in this manner during one’s period!

  2. These are gorgeous and are so feminine. The texture looks really soft and light, I am in love. It sort of reminds me of the dress Juliet wore in Romeo and Juliet, for her mothers party.

  3. WOW! This is creative and designer lingerie and not other things… I love this genuine style. I am not sure if it will be very comfortable though… 😉

  4. I usually hate girly romantic looks but I must admit that this designer make me think twice, I really like those pictures and I’m not a girly girl. She’s got it all perfect. Me want some xxx

  5. WOW these are extravagant to the extreme I find them diabolically feminine well balanced between romantic and modern, the neckpiece is to die for!!!

  6. I find it interesting that so many women explain that they don’t usually like feminine romantic stuff!!! Why is it so, have we been refusing this side of our femininity in order to fit in the new society, or is it just something as simple as the fact that none of the young designers is doing it in this modern way anymore??? I find Saardis work extraordinary… Loving every delicious part of it.

  7. Beautiful beautiful work as always Miss Saardi, can’t wait till this babe hits the stores want a piece of her dreamy world now 😉
