>> I am becoming a walking "Point at her and laugh" target and I seem to be purposely stepping into ring. First it was the cock socks from Digitaria which underneath a sheer black dress is at least one of those things that make you glance, rub your eyes and glance again. This paper party dress by Walter Van Beirendonck which I wrote about aaaages ago and received last week is a little bit more to the point. It's naked Walter riding a bear. Nothing more to say on the matter really other than it's Van Beirendonck's signature motif. I had a bit of a feverish spell over the weekend and am in that "one dress and go" period where I can't really be that arsed with what I'm wearing and this Tyvek piece has come in handy. Oh and of course, school kids can have a chuckle too but I'm too fuzzy in the head to even notice (or hear for that matter as my ears are blocked up…).

love it, and love how you’ve layered it. I’ve had a couple vintage paper dresses over the years but always perky polka dots (I still have a 60s paper bikini, I think, but also polka dots)…loving the modern approach. Thanks for sharing it, feel better soon! Ang
Very cool! Love the whole outfit!
OKAY SO the ‘paper dress’ actually means polyester? OKAY OKAY SUSIE BUBBLE tell me, is it a horrible fabric to wear?? BECAUSE I NEED THIS THING IN MY LIFE. I LOVE Walter Van Beirendonck so much but nothing has ever been affordable for me. This however (though I am pretty damn poor right now – and with poor I mean I am without money till August 5th T_T) is kind of affordable for me. I AM EXCITED (can you tell?). What size did you take? I am normally a 36-38 I believe but how are these sizes, small or large or completely normal? Should I take a 38 so I’m sure that it will definitely fit somewhat larger (though I am not skinny I am a tiny person) just like it’s kind of 60s? HELP ME
I AM TOO EXCITED TO TYPE COHERENTLY. MS BUBBLE YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH MY HERO NOW. I AM FORCING MY PARENTS TO GET THIS FOR ME. YESSS
adorbs!!! love the way you pieced the photos together too
Eline: Wow…lots of questions! No, the fabric is actually very comfy… not scratchy… more like a thinner version of felt…. and softer too….
I got a size 36 I think and it’s pretty loose…..! I think 36 would be best….
Oh I say go for it. You look great as usual. Here in New York I miss the humour and élan of British style. Unless you hop off to Brooklyn, you never see anyone mixing it up outside of a club or maybe the odd bar. I miss London where people in wonderful outfits happily trot down the street on their way to work. As an editor I am not inspired. LLGxx
What a delightfully coloured dress, I actually really do like the design. And I am in pure awe of anyone who can create a paper dress. I have my fingers crossed for a tyvek suit now lol. Hope you had a lovely weekend 🙂
Thank youuu! I got one XD. Excuse my overly enthusiastic comment but I tend to go insane over something I really love. I mean, it has a naked Walter on it! XD
Hi Suzie,
Dumb question, is is actually paper? as in what the hell do you do if it rains and your dress disintergraits!?!?
It certainly looks super cool though!

That print is superfab.
wonderful outfit!
well i like it. and i really like him. i wish i knew what your shoes were. i must have missed them on here somewhere.
the cock socks made my day.
I need those shoes you are wearing.
I love the dress but what I am really focused on is the jacket. Waaaant!
The humour of Van Beirendonck’s fashions never fail to amuse me.
love the way your arranged the photo…though it’s also kinda scary. haha
PS love the skimmers
Hey Susie,
Love the dress and especially love the way you’ve put the photos together, David Hockney style! Very creative, and it makes Naked Walter’s nakedness a little less in-your-face! Ha!
xxx
@ Ellie – Walter isn’t really that expensive at all, he often does stuff for Belgian highstreet brands that are totally doable (but maybe a bit less outrageous in design). He used to do a line called W< (Wild & Lethal Trash) of which I had a bunch of stuff 10 years ago when I was 15 – so I’m sure it wasn’t expensive as my mom would never have forked out much for those crazy tshirts. Maybe you can still find some of this on ebay.
Man, too bad that other paper dress by Dirk van Saene isn’t on sale (yet)
– uhm, I meant it’s not in sale (Walter’s is, Dirk’s isn’t)
What shoes are you wearing?? They look so comfy!
^They have no label! Bought them at Laden Showroom a few years ago… they are very comfy!
It is a little different but I really like it. There’s never an excuse for anyone to point and laugh . . . just poor manners.
