The London press day rounds have begun today and there'll be many many bits and bobs coming over the weeks. I'm hoping I'm the first blogger to give Michael Lewis' debut own label collection for A/W 09 some lovin' and hopefully not the last! Of course, you might have bought into Lewis years ago when he worked at Louis Vuitton and Gucci or most probably through his creative consultancy role at Kurt Geiger. Currently he works on the shoes for Loewe and Jaeger. In truth, there are touches of that mound of experience in this collection along with Lewis' love of English heritage and period dramas. It might seem a little odd that Lewis has already started applying monogrammed hardware logos to his shoes but when balanced with the unusual heel construction and the tapered platforms, somehow the little notes of quiet luxury and heritage seems to work.
I'm also curious about the proposed pricepoints of Michael Lewis. Considering his past stints, I would have pinned them in at the upper echelons of high end. I'm told that the price brackets are more See by Chloe/Marc by Marc Jacobs-esque. It's funny that I've always been dumbfounded as to why the Fashionistas range by Kurt Geiger was along that exact same pricepoint yet suddenly when I hear that its ex-creative director's debut shoe line is the same price, I'm more than happy to entertain the cost. I'll try and figure out that logic… I'll also hunt out better images of the collection too….
I love those platforms! And I think the logic behind that is knowing that these shoes are the product of one person’s vision and creativity vs. the product of a group of creative people trying merely to add a new demographic/get people to shell out more.
I swear you have the best eye for shoes. I thought I recognized a bit of Kurt Geiger in them! If only he would turn his talents to flats, I can never bring myself to wear heels on a daily basis
very very gorgeous shoes. you are the shoe maverick! i love the heel shapes.

Nothing I love more than shoes that are also art. I couldn’t wear or afford the things but that doesn’t stop me from admiring them. The red heels and the boots are truly something else 🙂
PS since you are more inclined to wear flats now (or, erm, flat – singular), who do you recommend for some awesome designs? I just posted about my reluctant love for flats (because physically I can’t really wear heels) but am usually at a loss to find really unique and sexy ones….they do exist, right? Heels can’t get all the love…
Oooo these are lovely, especially the heel and the platform, perfection! And I’m happy to hear they won’t be exorbitantly priced either!
Shoes, shoes, shoes….and more shoes! It doesn’t seem possible to have too many! These are beautiful art pieces. I think I would create a wall of shoes…of course, only the best…otherwise, it just wouldn’t fit!
Creating a wall of shoes is no problem for me, as I never really get to wear them out much. These would do rather nicely. xo
Oh those heels are killer.lol
Love them,specially that boots.;D
I think the Fashionista range is actually very true to his vision but I suspect it’s more the thought of forking out for a label that says ‘Kurt Geiger’ that sticks in the throat rather than a label that says ‘Michael Lewis’, even if the designs are the same and pretty much the same price. I am the same. Loved the Fashionista range, which were beautifully made and actually worth the price, but being so used to rarely paying over £100 for Kurt Geiger I couldn’t bring myself to pay that for them, regardless of who designed them. It was such a leap in price.
^Exactement…. it’s about the shoe last too…. I would hazard a guess that Lewis would use a better last for his own range than he would for the Kurt Geiger shoes (afterall…KG have to make a bigger chink of profit…)… we shall see…
Love those gorgeous shoes.;D
Thanks for posting it,hope to see more from you.;D
That first shoe is killing me.
No more shoe lust allowed, Alex. None.
Susie, you are making my resolutions really hard to keep!
I quite a few of these. The heels are totally out of this world and unusual.
