Oh Hermione!

The prints this season are inspired by middle aged men and women in Southern small town America who communicate through their bizarre animal profiles on social networking websites. They literally spam each other with spiritual messages about friendship and fantasy images of animals. For example 48 year old 'Timberwolf' married to 58 year old 'Werewolf' from Indiana, post well wishing pictures and sentiments daily to friends such as 'Spirit of Foxmoon' who they have never met…and 38 year old 'Wolfiespirit' from Louisiana has 771 fantasy pictures of wolves in her profile picture albums!

Prize of most random fashion inspiration officially goes to Hermione di Paula (who might also have nabbed the prettiest name in fashion too….).  This CSM fashion with print grad got the best of print help from tutor Celia Birtwell and has worked on prints from Dior couture, Giles Deacon and McQueen.  She has perhaps saved the best of her seemingly multi-faceted fashion mind for her own label and has something serious to say silhouette-wise as well, especially for her new A/W 09 collection, her second one.  Without looking at the prints up close I can't quite see the connection to the MySpace nut jobs Hermione talks about but the clothes speak for themselves without the ker-razy background information and I guess the quote above just makes me want to watch out for what Hermione does in the future all the more.

  2. Definately some crazy inspiration, but I love it when people take inspiration from both banal subjects and the completely random…makes the work so much more intriguing. This is obviously one talent to watch!

  3. How does one even stumble upon such online communities? What kind of google search did that entail?
The results are gorgeous though! Wow I suddenly feel tempted to go wrangle up a bunch of nature t-shirts and make pants out of them.
