All the way from…Latvia?

All the way from…Latvia?

So I’m thinking some sort of a Googlemap tracking all the different designers from all over the world is in order for 2009 and I might even be determined enough to see if I can cite a designer from every single country in the world.  Today, I’m ticking off Latvia off the list thanks to a DD contributor who shed some light on Maureurol’s, a duo who graduated from the Design and Art School of Riga that also have their own denim label MRJeans.  It’s their lookbook images shot by Kaspars Lielgalvis that have caught my eye due to their love of oversized headpieces that are like found object sculptures.  Their latest collection presented at the end of October "Private Detective" was inspired by film noir, and revolves around the archetypes from the noir classics. The trench of course makes an appearance as does a wonderful femme fatale pleated dress. Coupled with the wigs that remind me of an oversized versions of the YSL AW08-9 black bobs, I love how striking the looks become. This collection was also developed into a short movie with Latvian film director Kristƒ´ne Kursi≈°a which I can’t seem to find on their admittedly confusing MySpace…

Not being into denim, it come as a surprise that I’m intrigued by their denim label MRJeans which also has equally wonderful imagery…

I disliked the YSL black bobs a lot but those pleated dresses are awesome. So, do you know a Czech designer?

Love those headpieces! Adds a really fun element to a photoshoot which is using, on the whole, quite sombre colours.

I feel rather good about knowing where Latvia is without the help of google map.
Do I see pairs of ‘skinny yet slouch’ jeans? I don’t get them.. do you?
Those designs are rather sharp. I love the deep colours as well.

I was 100% distracted from the clothes by the headwear, now thats what i want to wear on my next subway ride from Washington Heights. God can you imagine, they look at me crazily enough when i wear normal clothes (well i ssay normal, but eh?).

-Booking flights with a 21-day advance acquire choice most of the time turn someone on the lowest feeling fares.
-Tickets with less than a 7-days advanced acquisition will rate as much as $900 or more, because it is considered a mould minute reservation.
-Take in feast reservation 6-months in move forward, but be unshakable of touring dates. Changing touring dates can be awfully costly.
-Launch treks on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday and stay overnight on a Saturday.
-Profuse airlines procure RED-EYE flights which depart belated in the evening or initially in the morning. Solicit from towards these pointed flights when calling the reserve department. Most of these flights force return to their hub-station, so they can reduce airfares by way of as much as 25%.
-Avoid departing on Fri-Sat-Sun and Mondays. Airfares could be 25% – 50% higher on these accepted days.
-Measured if you are traveling one-way stay to go through if it’s cheaper to buying a round-trip ticket. Most airlines resolve protection more on a one-way reservation.
-Command quest of airfares? Unless you know the current market, it could turn for all to see to be active once..twice..gotcha!
