Lady Smaggle has a lot of tights. That I can tell from her daily style pics. When she made a necklace out of her laddered tights, that well and truly left me going ‘Doooooh… all this time I’ve been making arm warmers and headbands with my tights…when I could have done THIS!’. Time passed and I never did get round to cutting up tights into delicate strips and doing some very easy-peasy, sitting-in-front-of-Masterchef-Professionals (don’t you just love Michel Roux Jnr saying "This is close to perfection…") knotting action. No, instead, Lady Smaggle took pity on my woeful lack of 48 hour days and said "Susie, your DIY Expert category on your blog is a sorry state of affairs. I’ll bloody make the damn necklace for you!". To which I meekly nodded and accepted like the sorry-ass DIY-dummy that I am…
What with American packages being held up due to possible storm action (my Lanvin jacket and jumpsuit is holed up somewhere in Florida…), I haven’t had much fashion newbie cheer in a long time. The last time I went shopping was such a distant memory. So Smaggle’s necklace was a much needed perk-me-up. I’m now thinking whether the possibility of extending the necklace with my own laddered tights will work, adding different colours/textures. Maybe I’ll start some sort of Smaggle Stocking chain, sending the necklace around the world allowing all femmes to add their discarded wretched laddered tights to make a lycra extravaganza that will end up on Bjork or someone of the same ilk who can pull off said accessory.
P.S. I realise the last sentance is completely down to my loopy delusions and deliriousness due to lack of shopping. You send me one necklace and I just completely doolally…

What a nice gesture! It looks great too.
I love that, and it was so sweet of her!
that is so cool! i’m going to have to try it out soon… i have a few tights that have called it a day.
Very cool outfit and I like this necklace. Something about the knots reminds me of paper birds…
I can’t help but imagine about 3 more of these layered up in something of a technicolour beard…….just me?…..yes.
^^LOL @ technicolor beard.
saw these and was reminded of the earlier post saying you were over black sequins… http://www.asos.com/Victoria-Beckham/Asos/Asos-Sequin-Leggings/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=344872&clr=Black&SearchQuery=leggings&sh=0
more sequinned layers can only be a good thing as winter begins!
ahh how nice of her, looks so nice love the colour and the stripey skirt very chic!
Looks way cooler than it sounds, wouldn’t guess those could be around someones lower part as well as your neck.

GRrrrrrrrrrrreat outfit! digging the skirt too much. so nice
Love this!! Creative ladies make me very happy, as do ladies that create beautiful jewel toned outfits. Great choice of shoes with this one, it just all looks fab.
It’s such a pretty necklace (and so sweet of Lady Smaggle to make it)! It reminds me of those paper tags at shrines..or alternatively, purple bluebells.
What a fun craft idea! I might try it, but I’ll have to find a place on the internet that sells colored tights that are large enough to fit me, which is not an easy thing to do.
I just took a look at Benjamin Cho’s show-pretty underwhelming! He really has a lot of nerve.
OHHHH she should esty, i would buy one….or just wait till my tights get worn, so they can then get laddered and salvaged.
I can see a see this being a lovely medium/material for a skirt or edging on a jacket !
i think it’s possible for you to make a book of things to do with tights… i know lady smaggle did a fine job, and she should be included in this book.
😉
I really love that color!!
This is the summer color here in Brazil!!
Cool!
Aw thanks guys! It looks awesome on you Miss Bubble! I love the way that you never wear things in the way they were intended… I looks SO COOL with the chain hanging down like that.
Oh it looks awesome. It reminds me of the knotted ties in the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection!
Sorry I meant knotted necklaces not ties…
whether you are crazy from not going shopping or not, i do like the idea of a worldwide smaggle necklace ‘pass the parcle’.
