The Move…

>> I hate leaving these notes of apology but I feel it is necessary seeing as I am moving this weekend… YES, after months and months of dillying and dallying, back and forth, I have found a new hovel to move into.  It’s bigger than my current hovel and the boyf and I have finally taken that supposedly important step (it’s really not that much of a landmark if we already stay at each other’s places 7 night of the week…) of moving in together.  This is merey a pragmatic step to avoid me waking up panicking because I’ve left a much-needed grey t-shirt over at the boyf’s house and him wondering where all his pants and socks are (two very important concerns of a guy…) and both of us trying to figure out the difficult mathematical equations of what night to spend at which place… that nonsense will be no more as we attempt to shift my entire wardrobe and his ickle one to the new hovel…

I had visions of clean, pared down, concealed slickness a la Carine Roitfeld (illustrated above..) but seeing as space is an issue, we have opted for something more random and hopefully both our brains will come up with ingenious solutions to make use of the crap that both of us have accumulated…

Ooops…that was supposed to be a very short note… anyhow, I’m off to get a PAYG broadband dongle (is it me or does that word sound rude…?) as a quick-internet-fix until the broadband is installed…

As I keep pleading… bear with me!

  7. Well good luck with the move. I just moved myself and I know how stressful it can be. I am still in university so my boyf and I moved into together. My sister and I have been frantically sewing slip covers for the nasty rez furniture they have supplied!

  8. ohh susie, I’m so happy for you! We are looking for a new apartment with my boyfriend, and it’s awfully difficult to find something decent (price and size) in Barcelona…

  13. For a second I thought that the photo of that gorgeous apartment was going to be yours and was thinking “If that’s what she calls a hovel?”….and then I read on.
    I work in IT and the word dongle is guaranteed to make a whole room giggle!

    the uber popular site Apartment therapy is a good source of inspiration for tiny spaces..and spaces in london is tiny! comparing to giant mansions in canada.

  29. Oh I envy you! I’m trying to look for a full-time job rather than doing loads of freelancing so my boyfriend and I can also get a place together… and yes, so many times I’ve left things at his that I really needed!

    Good Luck! Prepare yourself for the arguments you’ll have with your bf too, it’s not easy really living together. I’m sure you’ll both be great though, enjoy it. x

Hi hope your move goes alright, also Ive just been catching up on some of your post and the Charity shop lists should come in very handy when I take my next trip to london, also you know the acne inspired cage skirt youu wore is it to Copenhegan/ stockholm (cant remember) is AMAZING… must get meself one.

  46. not going to lie, I actually really like her home. I think its because my home has so much clutter – it’s driving me absolutely insane. I would love to live in her home, where ever thing has its own place!

  49. I loathe moving but my most recent one (a year ago now) was under the same circumstances. It simply got *tiring* trying to go back & forth between two places–and having 2 toothbrushes) and living every other day out of a bag. & all of the little annoyances that are supposed to be so difficult were pretty much nonexistent since we’re both clean freaks. So congrats & may it also be so easy for you!

  51. Dongle is a silly word and yes, it does sound rude.
    When my boyf and I moved in together we were staying with each other every night too, but the actual moving in part was still a big adjustment. There were some arguments, some more stress, but it was worth it in the end. Good luck!

  56. Oh that house is really something. I have used it in the past as a visual for where antique meets clean lines. Im the old soul and the boyf is super new age and slick. Makes for difficult interiors. Best of luck with the move Bubble. xf

  57. I just wanted to say thank you everyone for leaving me all these good luck notes for moving in…. it is now pretty much complete…now comes the fun part of making things look pretty….
