Painting the Pink Skies

sky1.jpg

Speaking of All of the Above, they helped me complete my pink sky vision which was first prompted by Jil Sander’s SS08 collection.  All that sheer goodness has been knocking about in my head and I’m determined to play it out to the end despite the arrival of autumn collections already.

So with my purchases of the All of Above sheer mesh navy t-shirt and dress and with some sheer blue Falke tights over some fuschia leggings, I got the effect of the sort of sky that I’d like to see this summer (it’s gotten to that orangey pink but not quite at that pink-blue stage…).

I also ended up having some fun with a sheer pink cape which I had forgotten about (that would be the sloppy wardrobe makign me misplace things…)…

Now I just need to find that sky in real life…

  1. What a lovely coloured sky……I long to see a sunset without rain for once. Oh well. Great outfit, love the flippy little cape.

  2. much like watching a sunset, the colours on this outfit are dreeeamy, they’re bold but light and airy at the same time, the effect is so cool

  3. very cute 🙂
    can we switch links?

    thanx! 🙂

  4. I think if I saw you walking down the street, I would completely get the sunset vibe without even your description–so lovely!
And yay, that was a very random comment I received. I deleted it…it made no sense to me.

  5. I would think that outfit would look quite lovely with your cage skirt 🙂

  6. I love the way that you have not only balanced the colours to create this effect, but anchored it with the serious, heeled brouges. It gives the floaty chiffon more of a punch.

  7. Oh dear, I saw some sunsets almost like that when I was like 15. I wish I could show you the pictures…It’s wear, because it was one fall like that, and never again…
    haha, I sound as I was 105 😀

  8. i love your outfit and the background is awesome! go to southport in the northwest around oct/nov and the sky is like that near enough every night!

  9. I love this look, and your blog.
And regarding your wardrobe purging process- my wardrobe is accepting donations as we speak =)

  10. A really cool outfit! I’ve bought a long light pink dress that is very see through, but haven’t found anything to wear underneath. Anyone got any suggestions, or know where to get fabulous underdresses? Would be much appreciated!

  11. Wow, I’m impressed at how evocative this is. I don’t find that abstract inspiration tends to translate this directly very often, especially when it’s being achieved through multiple garments.

  12. I LOVE those colors!! Bold colors are totally in this summer. Shopgoldyn.com has many pieces in that fuscia color scheme. If you want to follow the trend, definitely give that website a look.

  13. oh my gosh… how pretty! i love the colors… and yeah, those kinds of sunsets were a regular thing in my old sf apartment due to the smog and marine layer… i really took that for granted.
and the sheers! cheers for sheers! i love the layering. luckily i found a some nice gradient sheer silks at the flea market… going to experiment.

  14. I truly love these outfits! Fantastic sunset interpretation. It reminds me of something you could wear to burning man if burning man were full of sophistes, not hippies…

  15. Maren: I think a place like American Apparel will do solid simple dresses to layer under the sheer pink (sounds lovely by the way….)….
Hmmm… must take a trip to Arizona/Southport or indeed…go back to HK!
    Thanks everyone…. here’s hoping I get my sunset…!

  16. Of all the Susie Bubble Outfit Editorials I’ve seen, I must say I love this feature the best. So pretty! There’s a lot of layering, yet each layer is so light and ethereal.

  17. This is fucking fabulous and you’ve got the most interesting/unique take on fashion that I can’t get enough of! (and this is the 1st time i’ve ever said anything like that about anyone…so you know i must really mean it ;D )
sigh…you are doing exactly what I WISH I had the self esteem to do myself. but alas…i have super insecurity issues with my body, thus i can only go as far as playing dress-up for my bedroom mirror…just me and the mirror.
Now I can live vicariously through you!
    Thanks! 😀
