I generally am quite oblivious to all the resort/pre-fall collections because I’m an old fuddy duddy who can’t get with the times of having four seasons a year or in fact just one long continuous season. Save for the Miu Miu royal purple pleated goodness, nothing really made my jaw drop which I guess isn’t the point of a resort collection. However, I do find it interesting that smaller labels are getting into the four-season game and it pleases me so as it shows that they’re making it work on a financial scale. Tata Naka, a Georgian London-based label designed by the lovely twins Tamara and Natasha Surguladze have done a resort 2009 collection that seems to be themed around a cool child bride. We’ve had a few Style Bubble scuffles about kids modelling high fashion but I find these lookbook images adorable as the young teen here wears the clothes so well, yet at the same time I’m not feeling too alienated as a 24 year old. It consists of lots of lovely light grey, draping and some interesting contrast of shiny materials and I also spy some lace-up criss-cross shoes. If they match my desire for the Tata Naka shoes that I stalked for a long time on Shop Fatal, then I’m hoping they get picked up somewhere or else I’ll have to ask either Tata or Naka to help me out…

She’s very cute in that last photo.
i think these lookbook photos are fantastic! and you’re right, they are definitely not alienating considering a child is modeling these looks! In fact I think she looks rather cute and almost indian goddess like.loving the pearly headgear and those leopard print shoes too.

Oh, she’s a doll! Oneof my favorite lookbooks of recent, she makes me think the clothes will make me smile.
The newspaper background of the photos give an edgier appeal to the clothes.
She looks adorable in the clothes. I like her sense of fun and playfulness.
i swear, these styles look susie bubble inspired! just plug your cute face in there and it’s your wardrobe! Interesting shapes, folds, rockin’shoes and tights..bravo for writing these twins up! they deserve MUCH credit!!! I really think it’s genius taking a sweetheart looking, big brown eyed teen and having her make cute faces in the clothes as some of the models who are gaunt and a bit “too cool for school” can really put a drab spin on things. This girl keeps it approachable and FUN which is what fashion should be!!

nice colletions… and at least they let her be a girl. i think often when kids are in high fashion, they try to do them up as adults, and that’s just creepy.
They look fantastic! some of the outfits dont look right and a little big but the majority are great i like the second to last grey draped dress! i also love the pearl (is it pearl) head pieces! nice!
this works so well coz she’s so cute. i want to give her a noogie!
thank you for this post! i havent heard of tata naka before. and i like how the backround for the pictures are just newspapers, that will be fun to try!
I think having the child model is okay in these pics, but I’d definitely frown on it for big runway style shows. That said, I love the middle dress in the top row! 🙂
Oh all that gorgeous poofiness of skirts!
I love these especially those pearl tiaras…
Oh man, those dresses are great— but the headpieces! and the shoes! and the white tights! lovely styling, great photos.
Would love to see more from Tata Naka new look books does anyone have the newest book?
