The Heights of Fashion Blogging?

mjbb1.jpg

When people send me emails and say that my blog is one of the best fashion blogs out there, I have to immediately dismiss them not out of false modesty but because…. well, my fashion blogging heights can’t possibly compare with what has happened to Bryanboy.  Let’s rewind and recount…

…Marc Jacobs held up a note backstage at his AW08-9 show saying ‘I love Bryanboy’…
these AW08-9 Marc by Marc Jacobs ads of Cole Mohr shot by Juergen Teller were blatantly inspired by the handbag-toting, dress-wearing superstar that is Bryan Boy…
…Jacobs then sent an email to Bryan saying he will name of the Marc Jacobs AW08-9 bag after Bryanboy…
…a correspondence between Jacobs and Bryanboy ensues with DHL packages and handwritten notes from MJ himself…

…and the mind boggles…

Actually, it boggles to the point that my own mind starts wandering into a misty la-la land and stupidly wonders whether any humongous designer is reading this blog…

Misty wondering over… because of course, there’s only one Bryanboy and he’s fabby fab fab and only fabby fab fabbiness would result in all the above… a big congratulations to him!

  1. I can’t even imagine the honour of having a bag named after me…it would be INSANE!!! Can you imagine?? I like to think if i had a bag named after me it would be a Miu Miu :oD and it would be really plush and squidgy, candy pink and ridiculously girly…thenagain i’m not fussy…and it wont happen! haha! You could have ‘The Bubble’ bag!

  2. Well, he may have reached fashion blogging nirvana but I will always remain loyal to the one, the only, the Susie!

  3. i find it amazing how big this bryanboy thing’s gotten! in the philippines he’s sort of seen as this trashy social-climber…

  4. I’m going to start carrying around a brown paper sack lunch while wearing one blue shoe and one yellow shoe. MJ will have to notice me eventually!!

  5. You cannot measure the quality of your blog by how many big name designers recognize you.
You are truly amazing, with or without the personalized bag

  6. If Bryanboy plays his cards right, he’ll get to go to bed with Marc too. Marc likes the young dudes. Bryanboy, hold out! You’re way classier than Marc’s usual hos.

  7. Well Susie if I get lucky to be accepted to my dream school, the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, I’d love to do a collection inspired by your sartorial adventures!
With your eccentric ensembles, a bag wouldn’t justify you. I’d rather have a collection in your honour!
    Cheers! 😉

  8. You shouldn’t dismiss people if they think your blog is one of the best – admittedly it is an amazing achievement for Bryanboy to be recognised by MJ, but everyone has different tastes! Your blog is truely delicious. Cx

  9. If I ever become a famous designer I’ll name ‘the Bubble Bag’ for you!!

  10. Well I still like your blog best, haha;) But congrats to Bryanboy, I esp loled at the first pic which is very much the same pose as the cheesy American Elle pic he posted!

  11. bb is great and baboosh, and I love his blog, but of course his style is not exactly mine, so I agree with miss woo, that I like your blog best (and this is not “peloteo” 🙂

  12. He’s lovely – I’m sure – but Bryanboy has got nothing on you, girlfriend!

  13. i read bryanboy’s blog all the time with great excitement. it’s crazy to think that his blog paved the way to him having a bag named after him!!! but susie, you’re so fantastic too and you don’t even know it. you need your own bag!! darling mr lagerfeld should start taking notice of you!

  14. Urgh I don’t like him. Not cause he’s so effeminate and he’s so sure of himself (or maybe UNsure?) that he dwelves into womenswear, but because of his blog and the way he blogs. Truthfully, your blog is much closer to one’s idea of a fashion blog: it gives and insider/outsider look of what is happening in the fash.world, while being subjective and objective at the same time. Even your way of writing is totally artsy and cool, it always brings these cool magazines to my mind like (the ones I read actually): Indie Magazine and Style100. Bb. seems just too cheap and he reminds me of that horrible perez hilton. I think he’s a fashion caricature and much more interested in being well known and showing off than actually having to do with fashion.

  15. I have regularly read your blog from the first day I found out about it on the late StyleBytes. I check it every day, even twice a day to be honest. And I love it! I love the ideas, the photos, what you wear, what you choose to show us. Maybe I don’t always share your views, but I always find inspiration in them. This is the first time I feel the urge to comment just to say: Please don’t sell yourself short, because in doing this you are selling your readers short too. Hug&Kisses!

  16. I agree that your blog is one of the best out there. I live in a very small rural town in the US and we don’t have nearly all the exciting fashion opportunities that you do there in London. I am living vicariously through your blog and other blogs from around the world. I would love it if you could check out my blog at http://www.lizblair.blogspot.com.

  17. OMG! A Style Bubble mention! LOL
Suzanne Lau you are the ultimate blogger. Tsk! I only blog about the things I love/obsess about whereas you blog about everything FASHYONNNNN! You’re hardcore!

  18. Bryanboy has carved out a niche, and I admire him for that. Few can do it to this degree.
    And he has hot legs.

  19. You’re both so tres amaaaaaaaaazing. I’ve been a fan forever of both you Susie and BB and I could never ever compare, you’re both too unique and too fabulous!

  20. well, he really is amazing! coming from the same country he lives in! :):) well, it just makes us proud 🙂
yours is great too! and how i wish i cud drop by more often (ugh site sensoring in china is damn!)

  21. Thanks guys… yes it is a little silly to compare blogs coz Bryan is one-of-a-kind and really puts it out there (thanks for dropping by BB!) and I do something quite different with the blog…
It does make the mind boggle though to think though how bloggers carve niches for themselves and that can send them to some very dizzy heights…crazy-out-of-this-world- heights…
Giancinephile and Gemma: I await that day with pleasure!

  22. Ah Susie, I still like your blog best 🙂
And wow, what an honour to have a bag named after you and then to get the prototype! BryanBoy is very lucky!

  23. Oh that BB bag thing is so crazy! Am basically glad that bloggers are going everywhere these days and having more creative input or being a source of inspiration, be it on ad campaigns or on editorial teams of magazines.
As I’ve written before, I am still waiting for that opportunity to tell you in person how much I love your style!

  24. that’s awesome for bryan boy… although he’s a bit more of an mj type, i’m guessing the same will happen with you and some amazing designer… who knows who it will be/????

  25. meh, I’m not a fan of his blog. And i don’t think having a bag named after you is that honorable, but maybe i’m weird like that. It’s such an MJ thing to do, he loves that interplay of design and celebrity. For me, BB’s blog is just fluff for me.

  26. wow, i’ve never heard of this bryanboy but gotta thank you for introducing me to a new fav blog! But Susie, seriouslly… he’s got nothin on you!

  27. Hi people,
just want to introduce myself on stylebubble.typepad.com, hope this is the right category for that purpose.
    Cheers,
    Max
