Chunky Casadei

I’ve never been one to shy away from old school Italian labels.  Obsession with Salvatore Ferragamo was instilled in me early on in life and it will probably be something that stays with me.  Discussing label revival with a friend, he said that given to the right people, any label could be made beautiful and ‘hip’.  So, I’m eager to find out who’s behind the AW08-9 collection at Italian shoe label Casadei (you’d be forgiven for not being familiar with the name… but their site has a wonderful history page…).

I mean there is some SERIOUS chunky platform action going on here.  I don’t mean to say chunky in that they’re awkward but that they just look so appealing to walk in because you know there’s a good bit of sturdiness going on beneath your feet.  Then there’s the elastic and patent detailing going on in the boots which are wintry shoe essentials.  Oh, and the colours… well… one of each please.  Yes, even the forest green loafer style is appealing.

  1. oh yum, i love the boot ones. susie, you always manage to introduce me to all these exciting designers i’ve never heard of! oh, and i can’t remember if i thanked you before, but cheers for adding me to your links.

  2. Ooh I love chunky shoes! Something about them just really appeals to me. They are so architectural and much easier to walk in than, say, a stiletto. I really love the purple one with the ankle strap. so awesome! I can always count on you for amazingly wonderful finds =)

  3. What wonderful finds, those boots are stunning I’d like one in every colour to!
What to say thank you as well for adding me to your links.

  4. these are LETHAL… i can’t imagine if I’d accidentally step on something unevening – perhaps the ankles will snap.

  5. Ah more shoes fetish for me to acquire. These are shelf fillers – I’d never be able to walk in them!
Nice to have alternative collection to view – I too was SF drummed. The sale shop at Biscester is worth a visit

  7. wooooow. these are PLATFORM platforms. i always like the idea of walking in platforms because they make killer heels (um, see above) seem less lethal.

  8. Love, love, love the boots with the elastic detailing! Like the colour of the loafers but not the shape, green boots instead please! (This is all purely speculative as my teeny-tiny feet are never going to able to walk in those)

  9. hey b–
this brand has a crazy beautiful boutique in dubai… that i accidently came across in 07, when i was wandering about in the city, glum over a missing pieces of luggage. i think these shoes rock, with some cord’s for the fall 🙂

  10. V. chunky, and v. cool to look at. I would fall down in those, though. I’m not graceful enough.

  11. i actually have to say, that the green loafer styled ones are my favorites! i don’t think i own any green shoes.

  12. Casadei is a wonderful shoe label although I haven’t heard much from it of the late.
I just got familiar with the label thanks to those old Italian Fash mags of mine. I guess platforms are here to stay! haha

  13. I have a pair of Casadei sandals that have lasted years… they’re extremely well made, and I still get compliments on them!

  14. I used to work for the pr firm which handled casadei in france. lovely heels.

  15. i need a pair of those boots (preferably 3 pairs so i can have one in every colour), i am deeply in lust. they look chunky and sturdy enough for me to be able to justify as sensible & realistic (ah, the logical mind of a shoe lover). do you know when they will be in stock? hello selfridges, goodbye hard earned cash…
