>>A few of us may have been confused when Dover Street Market opened only to discover it’s not really a market, with the London Mayfair address being a bit of a giveaway.  However, DSM have decided to put on a ‘market’ of sorts this coming Bank Holiday Weekend.  I say ‘of sorts’ because it’s not an open-air affair.  Of course not.  We are talking about Comme des Garcons archive pieces from AW04-SS07 at ‘stupendous prices’ (their words, not mine…).  Can’t really have those flapping about in this sunny windyness we’re getting.  So it’s gonna be held at Phillips de Pury & Co. auction house in Victoria, London…

There will also be Pierre Hardy, Martin Margiela, Raf Simons, Dior Homme, John Galliano, Nina Ricci, Undercover, Number (N)ine blah blah blah…. if there are indeed archive pieces from those labels too, then the boyf and I are going to have quite the field day…

Shall be seeing you there… plus we can rummage the charity shops and the sadly closing Cornucopia (grrr…let’s not get into that…) on Upper Tachbrook Street afterwards as a contrast to all the ‘DE-ZINER’ DSM offerings…

  2. I love DSM but sadly my bank balance doesn’t usually stretch that far…I’m more of a charity shopper at the moment! Can you give me advice on decent charity shops in London Susie? I love your blog, and are a trusted source on such matters!

  4. I work opposite Cornucopia and was thinking of doing an RIP post o it of late. Im looking at it from my office window as I type. Its so sad but the owner just thinks its time… what a shame. I have a friend who used to go in there with her mum when she was a baby in a pram and now shes 30 and still shops there. It has such history. xf

  5. Sorry to go off track, but does anyone know anything about a Chanel sample sale in London this week or this weekend?
    I have heard mumblings and I thought this would be the best place to ask as you are talking about the Dover Street Market and Chanel have recently opened a boutique there.

  6. Fashion Critic…there are a lot of ‘private’ sample sales going on but unfortuantely only members of press or ‘special’ ppl get to go as you need an invite…. alas…no Chanel sample sale invitation for me….

  10. If I ever visit London, I’m not coming away without a gander inside DSM. That’s more or less a promise…
    Are all sample sales private/invite-only, or are there normal ones that members of the public can attend, too?

  11. Dru, there are TONS of public ones in London but the top designers and pretty much all sample sales in Paris are invite only….
