True Blue

I’m putting myself on a very heavily controlled trouser-wearing diet – as in, a few more trouser wearing days in my outfit schedule isn’t going to hurt me and will do me good…much like the .  Mind you, I’m sticking to the tried and tested – no new fandangled trouser labels and fits that migh confuse the brain and make me want to scoop out my eyeballs in frustration.  So far, Jens Laugesen trousers do it for me on the upper end of the trew scale.  Then on the cheaper end, we have Uniqlo skinnies on which I can eternally rely on their size 8’s to not be too long and to have the right amount of skinniness.  For SS08 they come in a few ice cream shades as well as sticking to the brights formula.

However, it’s their THREE (yes, three…) shades of blue all of which I’m aiming to acquire for self-imposed trouser wearing-diet (I’m thinking a dear Brazillian commentor of mine will be dying to pipe up with ‘But Susie, you need to go on a diet, PERIOD!’…) during the summer months of June-Aug.  There is something about these middling shades of denim that are on their way to transforming into chambray, that is very appealing.  It takes these easy-on-the-eye shades of blue to ease me into the trews so bear with me.

  1. Okay, I get the point about wanting to wear more trousers to get more wear out of them…
while a part of me is thinking ‘but you look so good in skirts, susie!’

  2. I am waiting on a pair of Chelsea Rebelle baby blue trousers arriving (Next week hopefully *fingers crossed*. I’ve been waiting an age for them!). I have the fear though. I wonder how flattering such pale trousers will be? Not to mention my dreadful habit of spilling tea…it could end in tears.

  3. look forward to seeing what you wear with these having just bought some similar ones myself.
watch out for the tea spillage!!

  4. ooooh, how i love uniqlo skinnies! theirs are the only ones that fit me right. those blues are so tempting. should check them out when i go to hong kong.

  5. Love them. Alas, I live in San Francisco and we have no one who carries them. Even online they are impossible to find. Maybe eBay? But I have no sense of how they fit…what I love is they really are the right level of “skinny” and while I embrace the blue–I’m really digging their colors.

  6. Lurve Uniqlo skinnies. Such a good fit and bargainous too!
Funnily enough, I posted about flares Vs skinnies last week… obviously a hot topic.

  7. Agreed with Amma — when do we in SF get a Uniqlo??
I love the darkest of the three blues — they’d all be so pretty with light creamy tops, which is my favorite summer look.

  8. I almost tried on a pair of those at Uniqlo in New York, but the line was too long and I was too lazy to wait. The colors are so perfect, like jeans from the ’70s . . . though I need to go on that trouser diet too before I get a new pair of skinnys. They’re kind of scary to try on sometimes!

  9. Brazilian commentator here, but of course I`m not the one who thinks you need to go on a diet…!!! I think you look FANTASTIC and I simply LOVE when you wear trousers/jeans, as you have just the perfect body for them!

  10. Just happened to me that I really don’t recall you wearing any trousers or jeans! Maybe it’s because you look so great in skirts that I haven’t noticed before. That old post on wearing a cardi as a skirt was one of my favorites.

  11. Those shades are refreshing. I sometimes get very bored with my dark rinse. I can’t wait to try something new.

  12. Hey Susie,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and I have to say Félicitations!
However, I am commenting for the first time because you mentioned the girl/guy from Brazil who comments on your weight. Well, let me just say that Brazilian women do incredible things to be ‘beautiful’, including the highest number of plastic surgeries in the world. If I remember correctly, certain Brazilian model died because of starvation.
Beauty is a very subjective thing and as far as I am concerned natural beauty is the best.
    Bonne chance!
