The Sheer Ease

Sheershot1_3It seems like an absolute age since I wrote about Jil Sander’s SS08 collection and the colours of the skies Raf Simons painted in the sheer pieces.  I was about *this* (makes a centimetre with thumb and index) to caving and buying an ombre Jil Sander cape from Luisa Viaroma but in the end, I opted to just let it lie and see what sort of sheer cheapness comes along.

In the end, it was cheapness indeed as I bought these sheer bed jackets at $0.01 each…yup that’s 1 cent each and with some sheer that I already had in the form of a vintage slip dress and black Topshop sheer pocketed tunic, it’s my less frou-frou version of sheer with a nudge towards that dusky sky that Simons expertly conveyed.

Of course, tulle layer cakes are still on my mind but simple sheer will also suffice.  Sheershot2

  1. I really hope to see the sheer thing really take off. I feel like no one is really featuring it seriously in editorials. They show that one Marc Jacobs’ ensemble and that’s about it!

  2. I’m amazed at how you keep finding stuff at such cheapo prices (like that pink PVC skirt!) Really like the subtle layering of the sheer pink with navy too..

  3. one cent each!!! WOW!! and your slip dress is awesome. i remember a post of yours where you wrote that sheerness would probably become one of your favourite summer trends.

  4. marvy posts today! the cute sheer jackets would be so handy to cover up in the sun…if there was any sun! i’m loving my little bed jacket, i feel they are making a major come back!

  5. When I first read bed jackets, sadly enough. I imagined a sort of sleeve for one’s bed. Yes I know. But I have to say the real thing looks a lot better than what I imagined. Especially for 1 cent!

  6. gosh, how do you find such bargains?
    😀
i love what raf did for jil sander. especially all the assymetrical edges.
    nice outfit by the way.

  7. aah this looks great. i have the every same sheer topshop dress and always with it came in more colours.
love how you’ve injected just the right amount of colour in the jackets.
