Surrealities of all surrealities, I’ve been featured in the My Style section of Refinery 29…. I haven’t a clue why…when alongside, are the likes of Chloe Sevigny, Lou Doillon, Julia-Restoin Roitfelt (daughter of Carine…)…. i.e. people that if I was FORCED to give a style icon (people’s style I admire but NOT want to emulate…that’s my definition by the by…), they’d be it…
I’m thinking people are going to go onto the Refinery 29 site and a) look at the name ‘Susanna Lau’ and wonder who the eff am I, because they didn’t use the more familiar Susie Bubble name or more likely b) wonder what the heck is Style Bubble.
From the outfits they’ve picked out, I’m also thinking people are gonna say ‘Gosh love… put the pins away!’… or ‘My…she has a lot of tights….’

Anyway, put that British self criticism aside and own up to the fact that you have style and people enjoy it and enjoy it enough to make you a prominant blog! There is nothing wrong with that! You always embrace variety in dressing so hurrah that you are being featured!

I’m wondering how–given your myriad of exciting outfit combos–they managed to whittle it down to the ones they selected. Some poor underpaid grunt probably went through the whole of the Bubble, and then probably had to get editorial approval and argue in favor of this over that and fight for pins or shoes or tulle…marvelous!

It must be interesting (understatement) if not downright odd sometimes to experience how other’s see your personal style history – being the creator/disseminator thereof – and putting you briefly in our position as audience. Your own sense of “success”, creatively, as you would see it in relation to each outfit, look, inspiration, etc no doubt runs the full gamut…yet once documented by you, they all float off into the world on an equal aesthetic footing so to speak…..until someone at Refinery 29 selects 18 at random! So, question: does it at all affect the way YOU view your past/future choices?

Susie, you’re something of an icon in your own right (weird as that might sound)- at least, to all of us. And you fully deserve to be up there with the best of them- the number of people you’ve inspired to start their own fashion blogs (including yours truly) is countless..
I am so bad with the self deprecation… truly, it’s a personality flaw… but thank you guys…!

MGW: An interesting question… I think I’ve never had regrets with outfits that I’ve worn because I know at the time I loved what I was wearing…
I also think that certain aesthetics carry off a bigger weight with people so the tights/short skirt combo clearly does it for R29 yet I have worn other things as well…. I doubt I’ll let this heavily weight upon my mind though to let it affect future choices seeing as I am quite impulsive in choosing things to wear….

lol… you do have a lot of tights but nothing wrong with that i say. if it were raining more often over here (definitely makes for cooler weather) i’d wear more tights too.
