There must be some sort of affinity between fringe and Glasgow because a little while after Kingdom of Style talked up the new ‘Roxy’ fringe tights by the Glasgow-based Bebaroque (pity the purple isn’t a more vibrant shade…now I think I’ll opt for the pink…), I discovered more fringing, this time on the upper body through a piece by Scott Ramsey Kyle which I wore yesterday at the shoot. Another CSM MA grad of the class of 2007 which I failed to follow up but it seems he’s in illustrious company as part of ‘Glasgow: Scotland with style’ Design Collective alongside Christopher Kane, Aimee McWilliams and Deryck Walker.
Anyhow combined with that distinctive exaggerated round shoulder and a lot of heavy embroidery for which Kyle is a specialist in, have done embroidery work for Boudicca and Emma Cook, you get ensembles that are Roisin Murphy-worthy (yup, she’s quick off the mark and has already worn his pieces..). The SS08 collection above also takes away any notions that fringe is supposed to be subtle. No, it is what it is and it’s supposed to be spangly, bright, dramatic and its not going to make any apologies for being just those things. I certainly felt rejevenated as I swooshed around in a Scott Ramsey Kylerounded red shoulder fringe top. swinging my upper body around and watching the fringe fly about… (funny that somebody mentioned the frizzball hair that Monica from Friends got in one episode with regards to my crimped do, because I was swishing around the fringe on this top in the same manner as Monica when she got a little happy over her beaded clickety-clack braids… )

ohhh color color color!!!
we like!
