Why can’t I ramp up the shoe count with these…?

It might be best to skip over the text and just drool over the images because it might be disheartening to hear about wholesale prices of things and my ever increasing desire to buy things at wholesale prices for the rest of my life.  Most people will probably know that wholesale prices is multiplied by 2.6 to get the retail price and so you‚Äôll understand the pain of staring at lists of wholesale prices especially where shoes are concerned.

At the Rainbow Wave showroom, they threw up a lot of options for Brittique‚Äôs shoe selection for AW08-9.  Camilla Skovgaard is another London-based designer with Scandi-origins that excels in edgy shapes that are utilise traditional Italian craftsmanship. The motif this season seems to be lattice and cut-outs…

Who knew a holographic cap on a boot could work so well…

Skovgaard has also done more of her signature ankle boot/sandals for the new season…. all the better to pair colourful, thick knitted socks with them.

Next up Marios Schwab has partnered up with Scorah Pattullo again for his AW08-9 collection and have come up with a mix of stomping squae toed boots and square strapped chunky sandals…the showpiece ankle boots are especially amazing…

I‚Äôm hoping someone will have the balls to buy these Sinha Stanic shoes in, as the colours are definitely the sort that will create a pleasant surprise if you‚Äôre wearing the longer length, more sombre type of clothes we are in for next season. I‚Äôll also be at whatever stockist of these shoes to figure out what the wholesale price is…. and then promptly weep….

Regarding buying experiences for Brittique, I guess what I haven‚Äôt FULLY experienced the WHOLE process of buying as at the end of the day, I‚Äôm not the one who has to figure out the sums and profitability of things.  These are issues which I have had to take into consideration when making a selection of items, but I‚Äôve merely been relying on gut feelings and instinct (dangerous things they are!).  The appointments themselves have been wonderful. Of course, it is the equivalent of being a big-spending customer in a designer store.  The sales agents are there to smile and sell and be hugely positive about everything.  I rather liked the ones where the designers were there themselves though I also understand why a lot of designers don‚Äôt get involved in the selling side of things.  But in the case of Louise Amstrup, it was a lot more appealing for me to hear about her influences, how things came about e.g. dip dyed jersey strands required her assistant cutting up minute jersey strips and colour stripping them one by one.  I guess at the end of the day, these anecdotes don‚Äôt really matter to the buyer who‚Äôs concerned about what will sell. Still, all the more insightful for me…

  1. Oh, the two-tone wedges! The two shades of hot pink! And the black with the bright blue around the back of the heel… And yeah, probably ridiculously expensive at retail price. Alas.

  2. “Shall I compare thee to a summers day” I now certainly believe in love at first sight. More shoes please bring on the shoes.

  3. Wow, a 2.6x markup…in the US it is only 2.2x. Will you be viewing Preen? Justin and Thea have to be the nicest designers I’ve ever met!

  4. man alive susie, your posts over the last 3 weeks have just been heart-achingly good, it’s all too much, stop loading me with all these delicious images! i can’t take it! (just kidding). But do you ever get that, when there is just TOO much to look at, too many leads to follow, a big dizzy swirly digital whirl in your head?? (which is mostly peach and flouncy right now, the tim williams and all the sheers and chiffon are on loop…)

  5. Man, if I were anywhere near somewhere I could buy those sinha’s I’d be all over that like white on rice.

  6. That must be so ridiculously frustrating! I love the Marios Schwab / Scorah Pattullo shoes! They’re fabulous.

comparing to last season (SS07), where i basically got nothing (ok, maybe just two or three or four pairs?). i already know i’ll be spending about at least $400 this month, and that’s only for 1 pair of shoes. well, it’s my birthday this month so i deserve it 😉

  11. Ah! Those last super bright pairs are AWESOME. Sinha Stanic are totally becoming one of my faves.
