No… don’t go down those lines!

If you expected some Kate Moss for Topshop coverage here on this Pro-Topshop, Pro-British fashion blog, then I’m afraid I haven’t served my duties.  Save for the first one, the last few Kate Moss for Topshop collections have just passed me by and I’ve happily waved it goodbye.  I don’t own any items from the collection.  I don’t really get excited about it.  I’m just very non-plussed, nonchalent about the whole thing.  (wow I’m really putting out a ‘Shrugging Shoulders over Fashion’ vibe these days….).  It’s not a hating thing.  It’s nothing against La Moss.  It’s really a Mind. Is. Blank. Can’t. Be. Bovvered. Thing.

Cue the very big however…. this pinstripe jacket (yes, that’s right, you heard it, it’s Pinstripe!) with an intricate black line detailing that picks out areas of the jacket in an interesting way is…. quite lovely.  After a few weeks of looking at line sheets from designers for Brittique, I guess the jacket suggesting those ‘lines’, the structure of a garment is refreshing.

I wouldn’t hastily buy it online knowing the fit of these things can be quite lopsided but hey let’s see how I get on venturing into the store and giving it a go…

  1. I think because the first collection got so much press coverage everyone was all over it but I think now we’re so used to the way Kate Moss dresses that the range she comes up with looks too familiar…I guess I like some of the pieces but like you said, I don’t think it’s too much to get excited about (except the jacket…i do like that!)

  2. Yeah, when I was looking through the collection yesterday, that was the only thing that sort of jumped off the screen. But I wasn’t entirely sold on it. Let us know how the in person exploration goes. HA!

  3. Saw it in store yesterday and there was no excitement over it in the Dublin store (hasn’t been since the first collection). Didn’t see that jacket tho’ just the usual selection of cheap t-shirts short-shorts and the odd dress. I have never seen anything in the collection that is really for me or even half as good as Top Shop’s normal collection.

  5. I liked the pinstriped trousers myself (not enough to buy them thought) but I have to agree that none of the collections have wowed me.

  6. I have to admit I bought the black ‘school boy’ blazer yesterday. It wasnt due to the fact it was by Kate Moss, just that I had been looking for a blazer for a while and the fit was pretty good. The rest of collection I found pretty non decript, the boutique range is much more interesting.

  7. I’m not a huge lover of the Kate Moss range myself, nothing at all has jumped out at me from any season. The only thing I am keen on is the tassled waistcoat but Im sure that I can find a vintage one which is 10 times better on ebay. Im not sure I like the jacket as such but admit it ia bold, standout piece seeing the rest of teh collection is a little on the bland side!
