Jumpsuits are one of those things which I don‚Äôt have a strong opinion of. I have them, I don‚Äôt object to them, nor am I jumping (ahem…) for joy for them…. that they are supposedly THE things to be wearing in a floaty, baggy oversized manner with chunky gladiator sandals and an oversized man‚Äôs tux (can you tell that I‚Äôm reading off some sort of fash formula?) doesn‚Äôt really bother me either way. They‚Äôre just another garment type and I can never quite understand why they cause that much contention seeing as they‚Äôre really like trousers with a top extension. I‚Äôm not going to ask soul-searching questions about the jumpsuit as a garment. I have a few. They‚Äôre fine to wear. I find it ok to pee in them. End of story.
However, I am most pleased with the colour scheme of the jumpsuits I‚Äôve acquired. A salmon pink vintage jumpsuit (a fiver find whilst rooting around in Manchester over the weekend…) and a cornflower blue chambray jumpsuit by Steve J & Yoni P for Topshop (an older compulsive sale buy that has proven not to be a dud…). This middling colour palette between jewel tones and pastels combined with a shade of wheat aka Topshop Unique SS08 colours…. are very much what a lot of my summery days will be about…

(Excuse miserable expressions… it was very EAR-LY!)
i love grown up onesies!! i’m always envious of tiny babies in their soft cotton body suits. it seems like it would be so easy to get dressed.
i’ve yet to purchase any…but you just may be my inspiration.
i like both these outfits- jumpsuits are hard, i never think of them as layering pieces, but you’ve done it well. thanks for the inspiration!
What are the black pumps you’re wearing in the second set of pictures? I love them!
You wear it well, girl. After all I said about jumpsuits, if I had seen you in them first, I would have been bigging em up! You are like Kate Moss i.e. look good in anything!
First let me say I love both your shoes 🙂
When I was little (5 or 6 years old) my mother bought me a jumpsuit very similar to that one in the first picture but in a very strange light blue! To be honest I hated it lol I felt like an astronaut (not to mention that my haircut by then was awful and I felt like I had an ufo on my head). But nowadays I find jumpsuits very cool 🙂
If I had to choose from one of those I would go for the first one!
Hey Susie! I have prom coming up soon and would like your advice on what to wear. I wonder what things you would wear (or maybe you wore to prom if you had one)I share your style and want to look a bit different. Thanks!
OOh, I love that second jumpsuit so much! I was looking at a similarly styled one recently and was trying to figure out how exactly I would pull it off in real life. Totally rad.
i love the salmon pink one, i do love that colour so. I really want a jumpsuit, i haven’t even tried one on yet but i agree, babies look so damn snug in them i want one for myself!
Some days it’s really hard to take that picture. Jumpsuits are a summer must.
I’m kinda anti-jumpsuits. I just don’t think they’re very flattering and they can look a little like overalls. But I’m actually starting to come round. I’ve seen so many ways of styling them recently so that they actually look really cute. And you look really good in yours. I’m just not sure I’d pull them of as well as you.
I used to have some when I was little and I felt so cool and stylish in them! hmm maybe I’ll have to swallow my pride and take back all my little rants!
btw I’m seriously in love with those forever21 shoes!
Oooh, the second one is gorgeous, especially with the black and white and the heels with it . . .
Jumpsuits are like leggings. You’re supposed to be horrified by them because Go Fug Yourself tells you to be (not singling out GFF; the same type of anti-fashion remarks appear in mainstream mags). They have a lingering attachment to the disco era and to parachute cloth; they tended in their military-type shape only to look good on very tall, very thin people.
They did unconscionable things to the shape of the arse.
I happen to like them quite well, even as they do not suit my body type. I still miss the swish-swish of one nylon legging rubbing against the other.
I like the colors of yours, S. And you wear them well!
Aahh…. I LOVE the second look!!! Love you in trousers, you look fantastic!! I know you are more found of skirts but you should try wearing more trousers…!!! LOVE.YOUR.BLOG!!
love the jumpsuit, still looking for it… yours are pretty eccentric, that’s why i love them!
Well – you’ve proved me wrong! I really didn’t think it was possible to make a jumpsuit, esp a salmon silky one, work off the catwalk. You look fantastic.
And thank you a thousand times for the thoughtful hot X bun offer. I was very, very tempted to take you up on it, & was mulling over the customs restricyions on sending raisin filled buns through the mail. Then a stylist friend who reads my blog flew into JFK today – en route to San Francisco and posted me some from the airport!!!! Genius. Goodness the power of hte blogging world is quite, quite extraordinary. And I am soon to be a replete (porky) happy fashion editor. LLG xx
Dear Susie,
would you be ever so kind to tell me where you got your black tux from?
Cez
I’m not a huge fan of jumpsuits however, you make them work for your style. The colours in the first photo work beautifully. Also, those black pumps are really nice.
Check out my fashion-on-a-budget blog at http://fatalfashionattraction.blogspot.com/
I must invest in a jumpsuit ASAP.
On a different note, I sent you an email about Little Miss UPS, do you still do it?
I love jumpsuits anyway but you make them look ten times more fantastic! I need to get one asap.
You rock the second look. Makes me want a jumpsuit or overall-esque item.
from the front, I love jumpsuits! especially playsuits. but from the back, aye carumba, I look massive in a jumpsuit! it’s not pretty but i don’t care! i like your subtle topshop one, it’s fab
Ha ha! You do look unusually sleepy. Nice work styling the stuff though.
You look great in both!
A nice follow on from my blog about Jumping for Joy! I’m liking your jumpsuits although I must admit, I am loving the baggy jumpsuits with gladiators that perhaps is a fash formula but a good one for me nonetheless…
Ohhhh, I have a penchant for jumpsuits, I don’t have a salmon coloured one though… you’re leaving me very jealous…
I like the colour of the salmon pink jumpsuit but I prefer the style/shape of the topshop one.
I’m loving the salmon jumpsuit. I’ve had my eyes out for either a denim or black jumpsuit (or both!). Great find 🙂
I love jumpers with skirts, but I have yet to try a jumpsuit. You make me want to give it a go. 🙂
Are the first shoes Forever 21?
The print of the second jumpsuit is very much like the marbled prints on some of the pieces in the Jil Sander A/W 08 menswear collection.
gosh, the chambray one is delightful!
I love jumpsuits!!
I love how you matched up those jumpsuits. Shows how versatile they are. But what really pulls the outfits together in my opinion are the shoes. They are awesome.
those black pumps of yours are wonderful! and even though those are some bright colors for jumpsuits i think u totally work it!
p.s.check out my blog sometime!
You’re so daring, susie! I could never pull off salmon, but my skintone is probably just a bit tanner than yours.
both jumpers are A.MAZ.ING. !!!!!!!
oh god. That topshop black pumps…
It was sold out when i return to get it.
SG topshop has so limited sizes.
:((
btw u look great in e 2nd pic :))
I actually like both of these…jumpsuits are murder on anyone with hips, which means there’s no chance I’ll ever wear them, but looking at yours reminds me of childhood fun times in my own 🙂
Wow…lots of people ‘Jumping’ for joy…. ho ho ho to quote Natty’s blog post title…
Shoe queries…
First pair of shoes are indeed from Forever 21 – have walked in day in them now…. they are fi-ine….
The second pair are from Topshop and yes, fraid’ they’re sold out now…
The black sequin jacket is the Karl Lagerfeld for H&M….. seen a few of these floating around on eBay….
Sarah UK: I’m afraid I never had a prom….but without knowing too much about what you’re into, what you’d normally wear, it’s hard to recommend anything. Do you have a particular image in mind for how you want to look? If it was me, I’d go with the ol’ vintage route…. only because inexpensive sub ¬£100 dresses on the high street aren’t that riveting…. and there is that much more variety going down the vintage route…
Alline: Yes, I’m not really a trousers person..but that’s coz I don’t try things on in changing rooms… I’m a in-and-out kinda girl…
LLG: Yay – you got your buns! I say a bun or two is never going to make one porky…!
Allure: Yes I am – but resend your email as sometimes my Hotmail plays up…
Although the second pair of shoes from Topshop are sold out, there are very similar ones at Primark which I purchased about two weeks ago. They don’t have the patient finish and the toe is slightly more pointed but apart from that they look almost the same – black, small platform, three tiny straps with gold buckles…
So cool!!
I love the 2nd look!
Not really a fan of jumpsuits, something I don’t quite think I could carry off, but I love how you’re wearing the salmon one. It’s a great outfit!
Hi Susie love love LOVE your blog! You are so talented!!!! I’ve been linking you back from my blog, but this is my first comment! Can’t help it I have to tell you how brilliant you are putting those shiny jacket and multi straps shoes with the jumpsuits!! Thank you so much! You’re my inspirations!!! ((hugs))
