So began my temporary position as guest buyer for Brittique last week with an appointment at Camilla Staerk. The good thing about buying for Brittique is that it so happens that each label I hold dearly to my heart. Camilla Staerk was responsible for my first office skirt that I actually love to wear with its heavy jersey fluid tulip shape that I wear to death. Therefore, as opposed to treating appointments like a job, it’s a joy to sneak a peek at the AW08-9 collection, touching everything and looking at things up close. Camilla Staerk herself may have gone onto pastures new by concentrating on her own Staerk line which was shown at New York Fashion Week but Roger Craig Searle who has been designing the Camilla Staerk line for the past few years is coming up with the goods and staying true to what Staerk put in place.
The appointment was in the spacey/warped Sanderson Hotel where too much light was flooding in to reveal a blotchy faced, green looking me. Nice. So I buried my head in the clothes instead, taking pictures of everything and going ‚ÄòOooh‚Äô and ‚ÄòAhhh‚Äô at practically everything. The collection as a whole really got back to those familiar aspects of Camilla Staerk that first drew me in. The luxurious feeling of black that wants to envelope you for the winter, the heaviness lightened by the choice of silky fabrics and addition of light grey/mauve, the unique cutting in some of the pieces and the day-to-day pieces that always seem that bit more special. Even difficult items like ‘fringe’ or ‘jumpsuits’ that would have some eyebrows furrowed seem so easy to wear. All in all, there is something for everyone which somewhat made me think that everything would work for Brittique.
The perfect throw it on over anything coat…. contrasted with the most workable fringe item I’ve seen…. these boots where the fringe attachment is removable.
The jumpsuits that aren’t troublesome…
These shoes floored me and if I do take them for Brittique, I may have to ask for a cheeky discount.
The lookbook images style up the pieces substantially, in a way that changed my perception of the pieces from when I saw them at the appointment. Obviously for me though, overstyling is a good thing as it plays up the versatility of the collection. The heaps of grey that lighten the collection…
The edgier pieces and in particular, the yellow shouldered dress is fantastic in person.
The return to signature Camilla Staerk…
…and the separates like the perfectly shaped skirts that no doubt, I will be buying…

Please take the shoes! I love Camilla Staerk shoes and bought a pair from Brittique a few seasons ago which I wear to death. I really really love the pair in your piccies on the right. Plain colour but just the shape and style I am looking for! In fact take one of everything, it all looks so good!
The yellow-shouldered dress is definitely my favorite.
I am loving the earmuffs! Tried one out at Acessorize the other day, but they made me look like Princess Leah in not a good way at all!
I definitely like strong shoulders on things…it reminds me mildly of Martin Margiela last year. Good picks, Susie!
i’ve never heard of brittique…. but i’m thoroughly impressed! honestly, i’m half surprised you don’t give buying a go… you always seem to know what i want before i do.
😉
There’s almost too much there from which to choose! Everything you’ve posted has potential.
Have fun, S.!
Very cool opportunity. I am really liking the grey and yellow color combination in general. And the grey ankle boot with the spats on them are pretty nice as well.
Hmmm, interesting designs, I hadn’t heard of her before. I like the yellow, black, grey combination….I love your outfit below, deliciously bright and happy as well as uber chic.
hey great site!!!
i like it very much
It’s interesting how all the outfits are accesorised with earmuffs. I love the look of the third model with that grey jumpsuit; the yellow earmuffs match her shoes. Adorable!
The look book is so fab.
wow. and i seriously need the throw-it-over-anything coat..
I love the grey jumpsuit, so cute!!
I love Camilla Staerk shoes, I have a pair and they’re so great!!!
I like the space age feel of the styling and the fact it looks like the models are posing in a shower.

Wanting..everything! How I convet a bit of Nordic cool…

The fringey boots are calling out for a DIY project! Very exciting …
Grey looks hot! Loving those shoes too… 🙂
Cool looks. The shoes are really great.
So…are we allowed to know what you bought? (For Btittique not yourself!) Bagsy the coat…
i absolutely adore that black coat…and the shoes, too. You did a very good job! 🙂
yes that coat in the first picture is great ‘n the removable fringe on the boots, awesome. What I think I like most are the color choices, I love the pairing of grey with black and the accent of yellow. It’s a great focal point. Nice post.
