Emma Cook’s tie dye latex in her collection intrigued me but Balenciaga’s AW08-9 collection finale ending with printed latex has confirmed it. If I spent a heap of time prettifying my latex black leggings, why not just buy the latex that is already prettified? This latex printed with Turner-esque landscapes and classical motifs seem to amalgamate the contrast that I had been working on within my own latex legging outfits. If people were unsure about latex before, trust Ghesquiere to amp up the beauty in such a way that the material goes past the realms of ‘fetish’. Imagining ‘ladies who lunch’ in these dresses wouldn’t be too far off the mark. Alas, prettified latex is probably a little out of my reach and sadly probably not DIY-able… oh well… guess I‚Äôll just continue to work the contrast in my own fumbling ways…
Prettifying the Fetish

This is printed latex? Changes my first thoughts of the collection completely! I HATE not seeing the clothes in real, only on photos. These sometimes distort impressions completely!!!
Hi, I do like the latex leggings. Also, I was wondering if you’d ever commented on Kookai? I can’t remember seeing anything – do you just have no strong feelings towards them?
Erm… Susie… are you aware that you’ve got porn in the coment box or your “prettyfying latex” post? Eugh! D’you think it was the latex that brought them there? Ah, the rancid smell of sexual desperation!
Dee: Confused… you mean you see actual porn or there is comment spamming because I see neither…
Comment spamming. Am i seeing things??? Hang on a mo, I’ll just check… No, it’s there: http://stylebubble.typepad.com/style_bubble/2006/12/a_contrast_of_m.html – bottom comment (in more ways than one I think you’ll find…)
I did not know that was printed latex, hmm
I’m really not sure what to make of this. I loved emma cook’s versions, but I’m not entirely sure about this. it’s far darker, but fashion as a whole is. maybe seeing it in the showroom will convince me, like it did with the floralis collection. who knows?
I reserve my reservations right now.
love,
Alex.
I actually like this collection. Who else to rely on than Ghesquiere to show us something out the ordinary grey’s and black’s of fall?
i’m scared by this. then i remember how versatile and easy to wear latex-look leggings are and calm down! transfer look for highstreet though?
I’ll be watching this one from the sidelines. It’s not for the faint of heart, but I’m all for ideas being translated any which way.
yikes, i never imagined their would be latex dresses on the runway. it seems like it would be a bit suffocating hm?
Not very environmentaly friendly though.
On the contrary, its entirely environmentally friendly!
Latex is a naturally occurring material, found in the sap of the Par√° rubber tree, it is organic and fair trade.
It is printed with a latex based pigment, so no dye’s to pollute the waterstream.
Latex is a biodegradable material, and naturally breaks down with a lifespan of approx 20 years, it will completely degrade leaving no lasting trace, and can be added to landfill or compost.
It is probably the most environmentally friendly material in fashion at the moment.
This is exactly the king of dresses I like but I would never wear those in public ^^ Nice fetish though
