Not so rubbish illustrations

I like Fashionista, wouldn’t mind a copy of The Daily Rubbish to read whilst on the way to work on the tube.  But I guess it is a big ask to have funny fash antics 365 days a week.  I completely forgot to pick up a copy of the new Rubbish magazine (more like an annual than a magazine), which at ¬£28 is quite possibly the priciest of mags that I’ve ever bought but with such a price, I’m also intrigued as to how jam packed the content is and then review it here to report whether a tr√®s cher funny fashion annual is necessary (I’m hoping the answer is yes…).  A new addition to The Daily Rubbish though this season are the Live From  Catwalk illustrations by illustrators whose work is also featured in the main magazine, all of which I loved for different reasons…

Emma Lofstrom’s quick sketchy oens that capture the movement of the clothes…

Gi Myao’s delicately serene watercolours that also depict the often quizical/bemused expressions of the front row…

Jessica Pemberton’s endearingly static depictions of one of my favourite collections of LFW, Erdem…

  1. I visit a ridiculous amount of fashion illustration blogs (most in french so I’ve no idea of what is going on), there is something about illustrations rather than photographs that can really capture Fashion in a much more satisfying way. Perhaps it is that it takes art to show art?

  2. Those illustrations are beautiful. Today, my favorite is Gi Myao. Tomorrow, maybe someone else!

  3. Erdem, as always it seems, was my favourite LFW show. And I love the Erdem illustrator the most too! Yellow dress girl looks about as cheery in the illustration as she did on the catwalk (ie not very)… I was backstage before the show and she was throwing up into a dustbin while she was having her hair done because she was so hung over! I don’t think i’ve ever seen a model on the catwalk look quite that miserable…
