Sunday newspaper reading should be done with languid laziness with time to sift through the secions slowly and going back to things at a leisurely pace. Mid-way through reading today’s Observer Woman magazine though, I started excitedly pointing out to my boyf ‘Oooh… look it’s the new Christopher Kane for Topshop stuff….and I spy some famliar Jonathan Saunders gradiated print there….!’. To which, he duly nodded and said ‘Nice, very nice’ as if I was a hyperactive child who was pointing out something particularly exciting in the Argos catalogue. So it is now confirmed that the month just got a bit longer because I also spy a bit of a price mark-up with regards to these Topshop designer collaborations. *grumble grumble* I guess it’s to be expected. But wanting is wanting and though I bought the Christopher Kane for Topshop grey pleated dress the first time round, I’m fancying CKTS round two in the form of this grey bodice front dress, and if it comes in a different colour way, me wants too. There’s a slightly harder edge to the pieces this time with the lace-up and leather details.
Christopher Kane for Topshop grey bodice front dress: £85

Christopher Kane for Topshop leather hooded jacket: £250, black skirt with leather bodice belt: £95
The Richard Nicoll dress is not tickling my fancy but I’m sure one of his shirt interpretations will pop up which solves the problem of having to replace my favourite Jens Laugesen one (stupid Biro marks…). Predictably lovely is the Jonathan Saunders dress… so again, count me in for one of those.
Richard Nicoll for Topshop olive ruffle dress: £75, Jonathan Saunders for Topshop black dress with red fade panel: £75
I’m not sure how I can bear the rest of the Topshop designer collaborations trickling through…. I’m really not sure…

Hey Susie!
I love your blog, duh… but i wish that you would update your style diary. It’s so inspiring to see your everyday wears!
Kane’s stuff seems to echo his FW0708 and SS08 namesake collections, dress is great.
DCB.
I love the gray ruffle dress! I’m glad Topshop ships to the US now — 3 or so years ago I inquired about shipping and they weren’t international yet :[.
It seems that designers are just taking things waaaaaaay back in time… first the 1920s… now we’re at what??? 1900-1870???
Though I adore these dresses, can’t designers think NEW instead of remaking the past??? That is so “been-there-done-that”!!!
the first dress is amazing and definitely worth £85!!
These designer collaborations are coming so thick and fast that soon Topshop will run out of designers and need to resort to “WendyB for Topshop.” Woot!
This is wonderful,i really like this.
Hmmm I love the grey ruffle dress, but I’m not fussed on the rest.
Wow, the CK dress is just like those Tyrolian dresses you can get from charities for 15 euros…I’d love that leather hooded jacket though!
Any Marios Schwab pics?
ahh… i’m telling you wardrobe remix…
😉
anyway… these do look lovely, the c.kane’s i don’t know why i’m always so dubious about getting excited about designer collaborations.
the laced bodice is inspiring, however.
I saw the CK dress today which resulted in some Sunday morning swooning. Though I do think the chances of me getting it (or even touching it) are slim, as the Brighton store never stock any TS designer stop, and they all sold out so quickly..
me <3 leather jacket and grey ruffle dress!!
I am definitely buying the leather jacket for me. 200 quid or not, I’m pretty sure it call still look decent on a boy. right?
I like this crap way more than kane’s lacklustre spring offering. the grey dress is great and the tab detailing on everything is a really nice touch. I obviously like marios’ coatdress too – although I would have liked a proper portfolio of the full collections in vogue’s collection summary as opposed to the snippets we got.
love,
Alex.
the first christopher kane dress reminds me of something helena bonham carter would wear. very goth, but girly.
ugh it looks terrible except for the skirt. None of this is doing anything for me. But the bigger question is why were you reading the Observer Woman magazine?! It’s such hypocritical disempowering drivel.
Hmmm, the Topshop designer collaborations always look really amazing but the fabric is such inferior quality. Anyone else get a Celia Birtwell dress that fell to bits after 4 washes?
That first dress is still really tempting though……
That leather jacket is so perfect, it’s not even funny.
Oh how I love that leather Jacket.
I’m not ashamed to say I dribbled tea down myself when I saw this post. It inspired me to get off my flu arse and go out and buy The Observer, which is no mean feat.
Incidentally, my blog has the only picture I can find of items from the Marios Schwab/Louise Goldin collections as well as different pics of the Kane jacket and the Richard Nicoll dress – all from this Feb’s Vogue supplement:

love the ruffle dress!!!
Loving the CK dress. The lace up at the front is a really nice detail. It’s like feminine AND tough at the same time!
that first dress looks like his version of a bavarian dirndl.
Lelia: I’m sorry but I am currently working out a new way of presenting my daily outfit…. more about that later…
Zaza: Total originality is pretty much impossible to achieve these days…. the best we can do is hope for a ‘twist’ on the past…
Vanwood: Becky below has a scan of one MS piece…
Alexander: Funny how this TS Kane stuff is miles better than his mainline collection… go get that bomber jacket… go get I say!
Meg: Ah… I’m sorry… I was being narcissistic and buying Observer to look out for a piece about my blog that is meant to be in it sometime soon….. shame on me!
Tor: I know what you mean about the C. Birtwell stuff but I do think these designer collabs and Boutique/Unique stuff is pretty good quality… for some reason, the C. Birtwell and Kate Moss stuff really suffered in terms of quality…
Becky: Thanks for pointing that ou…. I will also link to you as well!
kitten: Haha… didn’t notice that but you are right…
I LOVE the Christopher Kane dress, so much. More than his last collection. And the Jonathan Saunders dress oh my crikey its tasty. Very reminiscent of his collection and so much cheaper, not that £75 is anywhere nearer affordable to me. Darn it.
I’m not too fond of the first dress since it reminds me very much of a dirndl, but the skirt and the last dress (I guess the inspiration for that one came from penguins?) are quite nice.
Have you tried getting the biro out with hairspray? I once got a huge blue ink stain on a very cute white cotton skirt, and after scrubbing it with hairspray (and 2 or 3 goes through the washing machine – with more hairspray scrubbing before each wash) it vanished.
I also used hairspray to remove a pen mark from a white leather croco stamped bag (minus the washing machine business).
I do suggest trying the hairspray on a hidden area of the garment first to make sure it won’t leave a strange mark! Though it never has oddly marked anything I’ve used it on.
