I know I know, you’re going to tell me off for masquerading as far superior ‘haute fash’ blogs such as Fashionologie or any other blog under my new category (check to the left…) ‘All things Campaigns, models and haute’. But I really can’t stand around and keep my mouth shut about the latest round of ads and I will do so until I have Lovefoxx for Luella ticked off and then I will keep it schtum. Miu Miu ads always stir an interest for me, because since I’m nearly always sold on the products prior to the ads, it’s always interesting to see how much MORE the ads will sell it for me and drive me into the stores, physically handing over my credit card and of that. I’m a child of the media, enslaved to be sucked right in, and let advertising do to me as they wish.
The first of the ads that was revealed in the wee hours of this morning didn’t rock my world. The lying down pose, the red curtain, the lifeless doll-effect seemed like a rehash of last season’s ads albeit with a more ‘Miu Miu’ apt starlet. Kirsten Dunst plays the part of Miu Miu Missy very well me thinks because I’m guessing she has an appeal for the vast majority of Miu Miu market, I’m guessing.
So then the second of the ads perked me up a bit more. She looks just a touch minxy but not threateningly so. Her stance makes me wish I had those exact same pair of shoes, shorty-short black satin skirt and faux-innocent red bow to concoct my own dark Alice in Wonderland world. Job done. Mission accomplished. Yet again, I will run into the arms of Prada (now a PUBLIC company) shareholders and happily hand over some of my heavily tax-deducted wages. What a chump I am…

haha yes, a shutter release does remove the button-pressing-followed-by-dashing aspect…which is always lovely (:
I saw the firt ad, and even this one doesn’t really having me rushing out to buy Miu Miu(altho’ in South Africa I’d probably have to sell my house just to buy the bow she’s wearing!) But I definitely agree with you on the shoes…mmmmm…yes, please!
I usually don’t enjoy celebrity campaigns, but I do agree with you about Kirsten, especially in the pictured ad – she seems to play it well. I really like the aesthetic!
Love it! She’s casting her vampiric Claudia stare and bewitching me into obsessing over those red red heels.
They risked the similarity because the colour palette is much the same (rich reds, lots of shadow), but overall I think it’s a good set of ads- the second one is the killer, I love the dark vibe and the fact that she seems to be engaging with the camera (as opposed to dead-eye passive).
I like the ad, but i almost wish I saw just a hint more eyes, i think it looks just a bit too dark
loads more exciting than the first one, kirsten is perfect here
it is successful indeed. i almost crave to be part of it.(way better than the previous ones with lilo-actually has nothing to do-the face is always so important for the final result and aesthetics)
Nice shoes!
omg! thanks a lot for linking my site! 🙂
I <3 U
I prefer the second ad
I like this ad, and I would like the same shoes of course!
When I think about it, Kirsten Dunst is very Miu Miu. I haven’t seen this ad yet, I love them both but this is pretty great!
i’m probably an anomaly in my view but her supposed ‘quirky’ style bores me to tears. risk-takers like chloe sevingy even drew baryymore really personify the miu miu spirit. has guts bravado and ‘ttude. she wears raybans/flats/skinny jeans. WOW!
the most interesting thing about this particular ad is the background.
i do like the other ads, sort of Alice in Wonderland at the opera. blood red floors.
as usual Miuccia’s ‘arty’ highly adaptive clothes translate well in the ads, nice styling (wonder by whom?).
if anything i like these ads because it doesn’t register Kirsten.
Dear Susanna! Thank you for the best fashionblog in world! I visit it for the first time today and now i’m totally stuck! I cant stop reading. You have a lovely taste of clothing! Would you please recomend some good clubs in London right now? I’m going there for the next weekend and i really need some good tips!
red riding hood! yesyesyes adore these adverts they are just perfection, it’s all about the lighting and the pale, pale skin, almost the colour of her hair. Kirsten can definitely model in these pics, i must buy a red satin bow RIGHT NOW!
love it so much <3
Miu Miu has the ability to do strange things to a star
Lindsay looked out of it (although she probably was) and Kirsten looks possesed in this ad…
although I do like it!
this ad is so much better than the old Li-Lo one.. i adore Kirsten.!
too dark for me…
gorgeously brooding.
how do u get so much money to buy all these brands?!
A mixed opinion but it’s a general ‘Yay’ me thinks… thumbs up to the K Dunst…
Minty: Hmmm.. dunno if that is an impertinent question or not but I’ll answer it anyway…
I work in a fairly well paid job in media planning and I’m learning the merits of buying fewer thing that are more pricy rather than lots of things that are cheap. It’s a little odd that I’m thrify one minute but then splash out in the next minute… hope that’s a sufficient explanation….
i enjoy the creative and professional work that you can see in every ad of miu miu. i think k. dunst fits in the scenery and yet i thought laetitia casta was the best that could ever happen to miu miu. there’s something about her which attracts me for many years.
I’d like the ad so much more if it wasn’t Kirsten- she bores me…
thanks for answering my question.. I am really curious, sorry if it turned out impertinent… u have tons of style. i like it. indeed a good idea to buy quality stuff, instead of tons of cheap stuff that may not last..
