So I have been tagged by Ninja in Colour and Curella Says to dish the dirt on the inner sanctums of my bag. Although the original tag was to name 6 essential things that I carry around with me, this challenge reminded me of a VERY ancient Style Bubble post that I did about the contents of my bag and I thought it was high time there was a bit of an update. Sadly, I fear the contents of my bag have become more functional rather beautiful. Oh for shame that I have to consider practicalities and not have ribbondry and whimsy occupying my bag, for shame indeed!
I just rotated my bag again from the boyf’s birthday gift because it needs a good wash and I have reverted back to my faithful Vivienne Westwood suede bag which I love a little bit more, everytime it gets a little bit more stained. It was one of my first ‘must-save-up-for-this’ purchases and I’ll remember the day when I walked into Selfridges and counted out those notes with a naive sense of pride. I have taken to decking it out in a black bow tie and a pom pom (yes bags can be outfitted too!) and a Daydream Nation necklace which I can then wear if I so choose at any given moment.

Some of you may have read my wallet woes on the blog. I’m sad to say that my habit of losing my wallet so often, the credit card companies know it’s me when I’m calling to cancel my cards for the 1000th time, just doesn’t want to cease. So in a big ‘I don’t give a shit’ gesture, I plumped for this cheap navy patent wallet from Urban Outfitters. It’s plain, functional and the patent is actually quite nice. I really can’t go throught he pain of losing another treasure of a wallet. The purple gingham card holder is also from Urban Outfitters and though I don’t carry my own business cards (people asking me for one on behalf of Style Bubble makes me chortle… a Style Bubble business card….eh?!), I like taking other people’s. I’m beginning to sound like something of a UO whore because the grey velvet coin purse attached to my bag is also from…. yup, that place of all-thangs-trendi.
So then comes the boring stuff…. techy things that I need on a day to day basis… Technically speaking, I WEAR my iPod as opposed to carrying it but anyhow… and that isn’t a calculator lodged under my headphones. It’s a monstrosity of a card-reader that I need for Natwest’s ridiculous system of online banking.
My beauty essentials weren’t ever going to set the world on fire given my track record with all things beauticious. These are my daily essentials which consist of a dab of concealer, a smatter of Shiseido powder, a lashing of mascara and a slick of vaseline. The Stella McCartney solid amber perfume saves me from nauseous tube journeys when I could be sniffing someone’s armpits. One inhaling of the stuff sets me straight. Call it a modern day snuffbox if you will.
I’m reading a hefty Nureyev biography in reality but when travelling, I like flimsy light classics. Madame de Lafayette’s book is like the 18th century equivalent of Point Romance. The measuring tape is for that intended haberdashery shop trip I need to make but keep putting back. Our office got inundated with X’mas gifts and someone kindly sent us a massive box of old-school British tuck-shop sweets…. I’m still munching on them.
Finally, the odd things at the bottom of my bag is this loose sailor button that I really need to sew back on and a teensy tiny book which is actually a catalogue of Miss Bibi’s jewellery…. the most bijoux way of presenting…erm…bijoux!
Now… to pester these lovely people to get their bags out and share all…
The Apathist, Cat Party, Disney Rollegirl, Buttons & Stars, Chic Looks, Le Book
Whilst I’m here posting a gazillion links, I thought I’d fulfill my tag duties and hand out the Thinking Blogger award, which I’ve been given by a few people who I thank gratiously! It was an impossible task to tag six blogs which HADN’T been tagged before in this blogosphere circular madness. However, I think by jove, I’ve done it!
I’m giving a lot of love to the growing brigade of smart male bloggers who are educating me on the finer points of menswear and giving me a lot to think about with regards to raiding male closets (I’m sorry for being such a taker!). Style Salvage, Male-Mode and Mainstream are all incidentally British/Irish bloggers too…
Who says pictures can’t give you food for thought. I know Thinking Blogs are thought to be wordy and wonderfully articulated but Just JR and Miss DiorCouture are just so beautifully presented that they leave a lasting impression in my head… thoughts on the images then ensue and thus…. they get Thinking Blogger status! Clever eh..?
Oh drat… I faltered. I can’t help but name my last selection as someone who has already been tagged. Style Sauvage’s posts are amazingly rich in information, elabouration and wit. They most definitely transport me to many wonderful epochs and periods when I wish I could have been born on the condition that I experience what Suzanna describes in her posts.

I love Madame de Lafayette!
Your bag looks really small and i can’t believe it can fit all of that! Lol.
This reminds me of a book i saw in collette by a tawainese girl about contents in handbags and the little stories….can’t remember the name!
Thanks for the lovely compliment, Susie. As you know the feeling is mutual. I MUST have my StyleBubble with breakfast or the day gets off on the wrong foot.
Ooh! I’ve never been tagged before. How exciting! I’m gonna have to get going then. I’m afraid I will bore you all with my bag contents…not very interesting at all!
And I’m back to say that I think Male-Mode’s Dustcakeboy (Cillian) is terrific. It was one of the first links I put on my own blog. He’s well worth adding to anyone’s roster of daily must-reads.
thank you for tagged me sweety 🙂 you have such a nice bag
oh gawd i’ve been tagged to do this too… the insides of my bag ain’t pretty, you’ve set the bar high!
thanks for the tag susie, the tiny jewelry catalogue is uber cute
cheers for the props susie (sorry, random american slang day apparently)… you managed to prise the miss bibi catalogue off the boyfriend then?
these pieces are great, but i also love Saundra Messinger, which can be found at www artfulwears.com! check out the awesome stylist’s blog post about the necklaces, titled ‘My Favorite Jewelry’
I hate to pick favorites per se, but I guess if you are a girl who has an abundance of choices and constantly go back to the same pieces, they are probably your favorites. I constantly find myself putting on all of the beautiful pieces by Saundra Messinger Saundra uses a unique brushed matte finish on her metals that give the jewelry a modern and very wearable look. Saundra’s jewelry has appeared in Vogue on many occasions and on the cover this Fall!
We are wild about the new Star & Moon Necklaces with diamonds. I mean everything looks better with diamonds right?
Oh Susie, you are so naughty! I am tres busy but for you…anything! (Maybe have to wait a few days, not much internet access in India believe it or not)…

La Princesse de Cleves comfirms the splendour of your taste, dear reader.
Hi Susie, thanks so much for the mention! I’ve been meaning to say- but internet’s been down. Style Bubble is, as always, a complete joy to read. Love love xxx
I finally got around to posting the contents of my bag, as inspired by your post!
