For the last few seasons, the British Fashion Council have been working their socks off to ‘bring back the big names’ to London Fashion Week, a strategy I’ve always been on the fence about and without sounding like a broken record, for me, LFW isn’t about ‘big names’. Therefore, for the past few seasons, there has always been a ‘HOT TICKET’ of the season, For FW07-8 it was Marc by Marc Jacobs, for SS08 it was Luella.
The rumourmill has been churned and Vivenne Westwood is currently in talks with the BFC to see whether she will move her AW08-9 show from Paris where she has been showing for the last 10 years back to London. Whilst I hate to see all this regalia, horns and trumpets heaped onto the ‘BIG names’, given that her clothes are undeniably British in influence and it seems almost natural that Vivienne Westwood should return to home turf, I will gladly welcome all the hoo-ha and fuss that will be built up if Dame Vivienne Westwood deigns to say yay to London. I’m sure it will be something akin to welcoming royalty back to the shores.
**EDIT** Oh well…. so much for fanfare. Vivienne Westwood will be returning to London…but only with the Red Label (it’s usually presented via lookbook/presentations etc..) The Gold Label show will remain in Paris.

That would be fantastic- getting her back, I mean. She’s much more ‘British’ in my eyes than even Luella, not to mention she has a LONG history in the city, so it really wouldn’t be just a gimmick – IMO- if she did show her next collection here.
those vivienne westwood ads are precious.
As an America I associate Vivienne Westwood was quintessential British fashion. It only makes sense for her to be in the UK.
