Pink Ladies

"Think pink! think pink! when you shop for summer clothes.
Think pink! think pink! if you want that quel-que chose.
Red is dead, blue is through,

With the number of posts that feature the colour pink, you’d think I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with it.  It just so happens though that it’s one of those colours that illicit a love/hate passionate/violent reactions in people which makes it the colour either problematic or beautiful.  Dazed & Confused have attributed to the romaticisim sweeping into next season to the well-heeled, well-groomed ladies of previous generations in their latest January issue.  And so we have Beryl and Anne here rocking all next season’s shades of pink quite strikingly, shot by Matt Irwin and styled by Nicola Formichetti, who seemed to have a whale of a time with the grannies.  I also love that some of the pink items they’re modelling are their own too which must mean they are perfectly at ease swathed in so much pink.

  1. This is an amazing editorial, I love glamorous grannies, and make such a nice change from the normal dour faced models.

  2. I love seeing old ladies all dressed up! It’s just really…refreshing! I think it was Juicy Couture (Cringe!) who did a lovely set of adverts with some of them involving old ladies dressed really glamourously! I’d liked them a lot.

  4. This is brilliant! I wish that more grannies would dress up like that. My grandmother used to colour her hair black, wear fake fur, animalprint and bright red lipstick (in the 80s), she was so cool 😀
    I must admit that I never liked the colour pink. I guess it’s because I think it doesn’t suit me, but in this editorial it looks fantastic!
